"You get the limited edition "Progenitor" Commander. This in-game commander has a unique model that shows off your early support of this game. Includes all previous tiers." -PA Kickstarter Page

I find that the shared base model between the Able commander and the Progenitor commander goes against the statement that you wouldn't be selling the Progenitor in the Armory.

I feel as if a less exclusive commander model could have been used for this.

As far as I can tell there are no exclusives.

I would be fine with this if that was the stated policy from the start.

As things are I'm pretty unhappy about the approach that's been taken.

The kickstarter page is pretty specific.

Probably not until Monday at the earliest, but I also intend to follow up on my line of questioning.

You are probably right, but I still want to keep this thread on the front page so it doesn't get forgotten.

Waiting doesn't change that? Bumping it like that isn't exactly professional, not to mention the forums are mostly dead on the weekends anyways, I'd just wait.

I'm still just confused as to why they didn't just sell, say, the calyx commander or something. I would have been right on that. I don't want to buy the able comm because it goes against what I think Uber promised they would do (the whole "won't ever sell this model" thing).

I think I can take a guess why they didn't just sell the Calyx, or any other commander for that matter.

Uber wanted to give something 'special' to AbleGamers. That rules out any of the run of the mill commanders that anyone can get access too.

Then it comes down to the 'who are we going to annoy' choice. They aren't going to annoy the company actually making the physical copies of PA, so their 'exclusive' commanders are out. That leave the backers 'exclusive commanders'. At this point I admit, I am a little foggy as to why they chose the Progenitor over say the Theta. (That said, I guess you could attribute that decision to the fact LOADS of people have the Theta 'exclusive' and therefore they wanted to annoy the least people accumulatively by using the Progenitor? Or perhaps the Theta commander actually isn't exclusive enough and Uber wanted to give away one of their 'rarest' commanders for charity?)

The thing that I think is a huge shame about this whole affair is the lack of communication. Uber could have spun this in a way that did little damage to the community and reached a result pretty quickly where most people were happy.
I feel they could have achieved this by being up front and honest about the situation, explaining their thinking and saying: "Look guys, we know we gave you something really special in the Progenitor, but we feel like this charity is a really worthy cause and we would really like to use a part of that specialness to help them."
Not everyone would have been happy, but it wouldn't have felt like some dirty secret that they were trying to sneak past everyone.

Instead we now have a situation where the forums are seeing some of their harshest censorship since I joined (way back in early Alpha) which is doing nothing to help the betrayed feelings a lot of kickstarter backers are clearly harbouring!

I really wish this entire situation had played out differently, because it has taken something positive and produced so much negativity from it. The most unfortunate bit is not all of the negativity is entirely unwarranted.

I think from now on, I wont be considering any of my commanders 'exclusive'.

The calyx was marked as exlusive as far as I remember, though exclusive to what i don't yet know.

Uber seem to have a few different meanings of Exclusive in a couple different ways. So far we only know the the explicit definition of "Timed Exclusives." Meaning it's only exclusive for a period of time.

It's exclusive to people who buy the early access boxed retail version.

True, but a lot of people aren't as nice as you, they wouldn't just donate because they were told they should. A lot of people want something in return. (Which is okay, it's just a fact of life)
