So when I play galactic war I can't fight for planets. If I go on empty planets it downloads tech all fine but when I fight for a planet I have to wait a while for the planets to load, they then load without drop zones or metal deposits so I have to wait a while again, then when the drop zones appear I select one and click "start annihilation" but nothing happens so I have to wait a further 5-10 minutes. My commander then appears but I usually see the drop pod in the sky and the commander on the ground with a red line going from the drop pod to the commander. The drop pod and commander are frozen for another 5-10 minutes, then the line and pod disappear but my commander is still frozen. I told him to build a metal extractor right next to him but nothing happened until a few minutes later when the metal extractor appeared but the commander hadn't moved. I don't have any mods, I have verified the contents of the game on steam and no problems and it happens every time I play Galactic War. I would be very grateful if someone could place a light at the end of the tunnel . Can you please clarify what region you're living in? Is there any change it's some region with bad/unstable internet connection? There also few workarounds you can try: 1 - Try to run game without "Steam Community Overlay": Right click the game in your Library -> Select Properties -> On the General tab, uncheck the box next to Enable Steam Community In-Game 2 - Try to run it using standalone launcher: https://store.uberent.com/download/pa
Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm in England on the EUW server. I can play skirmish without too much of a problem (sometimes starting a skirmish can be buggy) but when a skirmish has started I don't have any issues with bandwidth lag. Starting a skirmish has become considerably less buggy than it was in early Beta so I do understand it's because the game isn't complete yet. I have tried the workarounds. There was no change when I turned off the steam overlay. When I used the standalone version of PA I did actually manage to get a working galactic war battle after waiting a while. It has only worked once however, the rest of the time I just get the planet with no metal deposits and when I tell my commander to spawn nothing happens for a while, then drop zones disappear but I have no commander and metal deposits still haven't appeared.
This may shed more light on the subject. After the planet appeared with the drop zones I was watching and I could see the trees spawning around the planet so I decided to keep watching to see if the metal deposits then spawned which, after a while, they did, and eventually my commander appeared and I was able to move him around and build. I haven't played it long enough to see if the AI on the planet is working properly so I will try that out. I suppose I don't get this issue on skirmishes because the system is pre-loaded in the lobby whereas on galactic war there's no time for that.
I didn't find any issues with your system. The first thing I can think of is your cooling system. Do you have a proper cooling? Does it make weird nosies? An advice that I can give: Try to clean your powerhouse with vacuum cleaner (especially the fans and the hardware components).
I have a water cooling system, 2 fans and the graphics card itself has a fan and some special AMD "vapor-x" liquid cooling system. I also have a temperature monitor which has an automatic shutdown if the cores reach 75 degrees Celsius but I've never had that problem it only gets to around the 40 - 50s when playing a very intensive game. I tend to clean out my system whenever it starts to gather dust. I don't have a problem running other GPU intensive games like Rome 2 or Watchdogs on ultra. Also it only seems to have a problem with Galactic War. Skirmishes load super quick no problem, I see the planet spawn the trees and stuff in a second but Galactic War battles just seem to be a hugely slowed down version of that where the trees take 5 minutes to spawn in and then eventually the commander spawns etc.
Weird. Then I think it's a compatibility problem that can be solved over time as patches come, or it can be a software, which somehow messes with the game. Try to stop or quit as many program as possible before you enter a game. Only the essential ones should be running. See if that makes any difference.

Thanks for your help. I'll just keep trying it whenever a patch comes out, I can play skirmishes for now.
