You need to make it movable. Detach the thumper head and add a "rail" for some pins in the main body.

It is definitely very sketchy, and as the OP said it is hard to work with to get reliable results. That makes it not so good in a business sense.

However, this technology is so interesting on the other hand. The day has come, where a random person like him can enter a generic 3d model file from a video game into a plug and play device, and 3d print it as a 3d model. That is pretty cool.

Still wonder if this will ever in fact evolve, and complicated things like "grapefruit" can literally be printed. It is one of those cases where science seems like mythical magic except it is happening in a rational phenomenon.

Back to quality, like I said, I agree with you, but man it must be fun to just out of boredom load a 3d model file up and make yourself a set of even temporary grade figurines. He could literally play Planetary Annihilation like it were a tabletop game

And as I have said, with the proper finishing it looks like plastic injected parts.

There is even Acetone gas (well, vapor) finishing methods for ABS plastic, but my printer only uses PLA.

Definitely. Besides, there is an economic figure to consider, between durability at it's higher cost, to replaceability at it's lower cost. If you are making these for free, they have to be pretty pretty pretty cheap. They don't fall apart immediately from the looks. They definitely seem worth for their replaceable property against the extreme cost of a different method durability.

Besides, they do look like they can be made more durable. The OP figure you demonstrate, you mention the model's weakest point is the actual weak point of the design. If modified to be "more durable in physical model", it would obviously endure better, rather than having all the issues with a video game model's weak joints.

I have a Monday Night Combat model "Tank" statue, made of a heavy and sturdyish material resin(?), and it was on sale for 5 dollars because of the unexpected damaging property of the arms falling off all of them. That is because, the massive jetgun, in the thin long forearms of the tank, connected by a round shaped joint up the arm which indirectly means a weak creece under extreme forces and long leverage.

That brings some great stop-motion ideas...
