Dark Souls Resolution Weirdness

There are three possible second areas, be more specific.

The one with the things that try to kill you.

The ghosts, the dudes or the skeleton dudes?

So far all I've found are skeletons. No skeleton dudes. Just skeletons. Is there some beach full of dead surfers where there's skeleton dudes?

Are you sure they are skeletons and not hollows? Hollows look kind of emaciated, but they're very different.

Definitely skeletons. Bones on the ground just move together to form them.

Yeah, go the other way then. There are very few reasons to go that way at the point you're at.
