    3 reasons:

1: instagib sucks, especially if there is no aim required, just trow moons at the nearest planet or moon and see players getting killed
2: i just played the 3th game in a row where 3 or more comms were killed in 1 strike.
3: i feel if all that remains from the planet's stuff not directly targetted is 90% damaged commanders then thats already pretty powerfull.
4: if commander can survive that initial explosion on deployment he can survive some shockwaves.
5: i dislike when you are sooo winning a game and then the enemy then wins by sending all their moons while transporting the commander to another planet so he is the only comm in spaceflight while everything gets nuked.

so i suggest: give moons 2 damage 'radius'

the inner one: sterilise: anything in this radius dies... it becomes larger and smaller depending on the mass of the moon sent, im thinking about "a hemisphere of a large planet for the largest possible moon you can crash"

the outer one: destroy: anything on the planet besides the commander, he is reduced to 10-ish % hp.

i mean lets be honest here, the comet that killed the dinosaur? it didnt kill a large part of all life on this earth... so commanders should be able to make it.

protip, if a moon falls directly on a commander i still feel he should die, just not if he is on the other side of a very large planet... buildings and units can be sterilised for all i care though... make people spy on enemy commanders

    Dat poll.

Anyway, a lot of people agree, and Uber agrees too.
Uber has already confirmed that damage caused by planet smashing will be proportional to the asteroid size.

To avoid a game ending smash, try to have your commander on another planet eh?

If for example, our moon hit the Earth, literally everything would catch fire and the floor would actually be lava. So it's not like the physics is bad.

However damage proportional to the size of the impactor is coming...

Well in that case, considering all that happens in the game is a few rocks blow off the planet and a crater shows up, I'd say the physics are downright nonsensical ;)

Well true. But I meant as an end-result, it's fairly accurate.

    That poll... oy.

As has been stated. This is a confirmed addition.

Eventually smashing a planet won't automatically destroy everything on the planet. That functionality has already been developed, but hasn't been implemented because of a pathing bug after a planet has been smashed. After a planet is smashed, the pathing doesn't adapt to the crater. So units will just walk around in the air like the planet hadn't been smashed.

    We'll get there.

Well, I think a better solution would be that the commander on the planet doing the smashing should get killed. Like . . . suicide planet smashing. . . for the greater cause. . . or something.

But aren't all the units robots anyway, as far as we know? Wait, are there humans in those things? Has Uber explained this at all?
