New Structure - Shield dome

How about a polygonal based shield grid? You build 3 within short range of each other that generates a triangular segment above the area. The trade of is that if the 'nope-missile' hits the shield squeeky bum time is temporarily avoided, but if it lands outside the segment the shield has no effect on account of it only protecting from above. The shield can be expanded by creating additional shield 'pylons' but at great cost to energy.

Directional shields would be cool - maybe even half-domes and ramps or vertical shields, to which certain projectile arcs (like Artillery) but not others (like Missiles).

The thing about half-shields is that the first question people ask is "why the hell isn't this a full shield?"

Honestly, I don't see much point in shields.

Arty is not the long range stuff you saw in supcom. Anti-nukes counter nukes, and you should have enough AA if you don't want bombed.

Until there is a need for shields, I can't see why we would want them. Otherwise they just encourage turtling, and that isn't much fun with PA style gameplay.

I bet all those guys disliking shields wish they had one now to protect them from ideas they dont like

Well than I say give us a experimental arty that does what the SupCom artys do than give us the shields

Because adding long range artillery surly can only have one purpose. Lets not go around and put words in other peoples mouths just to be witty.

Guys... I just thought about this wonderful idea, its called. The shield.
This shield would protect youre forces from enemy fire and arty.
What do you guys think of it?

Shields are like diapers, they protect ur stuff for a short time then **** happens and need to be thrown away.

Just like the idea, it stinks.
