So here is my situation. I open up Planetary Annihilation, everything works fine with no lag. I then either go to join a online match or play the single player mode. Everything works all the way up until its time for the planet to load. At that moment, the game freezes and then crashes giving me no information why other than "pa.exe has stopped working". I have been on these forums for days, trying to update my drivers and following guide after guide to no avail. I'm done talking, below is everything from dxdiag for anyone who has any kind of advice. If anyone can help, PLEASE do.
As you know your problem caused by outdated drivers: Code: Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 Driver Date/Size: 10/14/2012 22:10:04, 12604416 bytes To update drivers download and install "Win64_153322.exe" from Intel website: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3712&DwnldID=23885 If you get "not validated for this computer" error download ZIP version of driver ("Win64_153322.zip") from same page and then install it using this instruction: http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/558749190911446231/ If you tried it already can you please clarify what exactly is your problem with drivers update?
First off, thank you for your help. I have been able to make it through the guide you have given me pretty well except for the very last part. I can navigate to the zip file but once I get there the only thing I see is a .inf file with the name "autorun". I've redone the entire process multiple times and keeping getting the same result. I am stumped and unfortunatley this is literally all the information I can give you. If you can help at all that would be amazing
File you need is in the "Graphics" sub-directory, did you checked it? Also check warnings under guide and make sure you're using proper ZIP unpacking software.
I'm sorry but I think there's a bit of mis-communication going on here. When I normally open the zip file with WinRAR on my desktop, I see the graphics folder and everything else. However, when I open it through the whole Device Manager thing, the only thing i can see is a file called "autorun.inf".
First of all you need to unpack this archive. You need to open unpacked directory in Device Manager, not zip! And yeah please make sure that you did clicked on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" button!
Okay, I finally understood what you were saying, and everything seems to be working now. I can't thank you enough, man
Can you please clarify what is your problem was? I just want to correct my guideline to make it easy for all players.
The only problem was on my side. I'm not that good with computers and it took me a while and, sadly, a little research to understand what you were saying. Now that I actually understand, I would say your guide is perfectly fine
