Every game it is bot rush, bot rush, tank rush, plane rush, bot rush. What is the best way to defend against it? It just isn't fun to play against. All games end quickly. I either defend to the point where my defense is so good that they give up, or I die. Either way it is 5 minute boring games. What is a way to prolong the game?

TA was amazing to the point where that was not possible. Defense systems held up ALOT better than they do in PA against T1 Units. It seems the cost vs reward for base defense is un even. The defense does little to stop the rush and if you invest in a majority defense you will get wave rushed on your commander.

Bot rush does not / should not succeed against static defenses. Tanks can, sometimes, but bots wouldn't be able to unless your enemy is outproducing you bigtime. I don't think I've ever played a game that was over in 5 minutes.

emm unless you played on really big TA maps, rush was a major part of the game. much much more so than pa. I do agree pds need a little buff. best defence this buils is to attack. if you cant beat them join them and all that. go air first, if they not air build bombers until the build air. dont build bots and build ants. spam squeeze and conquer is how to win pa

    1) Build tanks
    2) Build planes
    3) Build more metal extractors than him
    4) Build more factories than him
    5) GG

If you are losing in 5 minutes, you arn't doing any of the above quite honestly...

*I would suggest practicing against the AI first and try and get as many units as you can by a set time limit. Like, try and get 50 tanks and 20 planes by 10 minutes. Then try and get 50 tanks etc. by 9 minutes. So on so on.

Can a bot rush defend a bot rush?

I played him twice. First time I went bot for bot.. second time I went for base defenses. I was not out of any material at any given time and I had planes flying over head and building base defenses. Base defenses are impractical due to their severely limited range and their high costs. It just isn't worth building defenses of any type and the only way to defend is with the same bot rush against them.

I find a 5:2:2 ratio ant (or whatever its called now)/ inferno / spinner deathballs are very effective at crunching through just about anything.

And they eat bots for breakfast.

You mean the AI that cheats? Playing an AI that ignores everything but workers and resource generators with out ever scouting isn't fun =/. The AI needs some work. Maybe I am expecting too much from beta.

The Ai does not cheat, it hasn't for a while now.

I think you missed the point. Who cares if the AI cheats or not. I want you to see how many units you can get by x amount of minutes.

    Also, build tanks, not bots.

As of 3 days ago it did. Came in with out a scouting mission took out only my workers and left. It did it 3 games in a row.

I believe the AI difficulty levels only give the AI more money, or less.

On normal, it plays the game normally, and actually isn't very good against a direct attack, but is good at micromanaging expansion, economy and teching.

Because it is a computer, it's always going to have that advantage, a computer needs no rest or nourishment, it will fight and fight until until it dies.

It doesn't give up, and nor should it.

No I don't believe it gets any economy boosts anymore. Now it's just a good player.

Heh, trust me, the AI does not cheat. There are 3 difficulty modes, and you can also adjust the AI's resource income, so maybe try playing against normal AI with a reduced income?
I know in my first few games of PA, I didn't stand a chance against the AI ;) It takes practice.

    This ^

The AI truly doesn't cheat, it probably just had radar on you as radar had ridiculous range. :p

Well on the hard difficulty I believe it does.

But on easy it gets a penalty.

    Right now AI difficulty controls:
    • How well it handles its economy
    • Level of micro
    • Threat assessments
    • Which opponent it targets
The AI plays by the same rules as you, it doesn't cheat.

No that's how it was in the past, now it's just it's actual ability. Normal, Hard, and Uber ai all have the same economy as you, the easier levels just have a handicap given to them elsewhere.

You can even change economy. :p
