I was just wondering what the future holds for P/A is unit cannon on its way for sure or being droped, planet terrian changes, death star , gas planets, new units, graphics etc.........Long term............ or P/A 2 has this been thought about.

Pretty much everything you listed is expected to come, its just a matter of time. As for long term stuff, Uber have said they want to keep working on PA for a long time. Things like buying commanders and the future mod marketplace will help them reach that goal.

I think the long term plan for PA is for it to become a platform rather than just a game.

Uber have gone to great lengths to enable pretty comprehensive modding support, and they've added capabilities into the engine with other games in mind.

I would love to see a 'homeworld' type game based on the PA engine with land thrown in for example.

The game is going to undergo updates after 1.0 release. All of what you listed will be in the game.

    As for timeframe?

    Well.

They badly need another way of overtaking a fortified planet.. something epic bc atm its dull and boring. And I'm hoping someone makes a cool fantasy rts with pa engine
Btw brian you never know what can happen after release. Many companies make big promises and never deliever.

This is one of my biggest concerns aswell. There is still tons of stuff missing which was promised and according to official word we are very near to a full 1.0 release.

I think Uber just really wants the game to be called 1.0 and finally release it. What they're not focusing on adding all the remaining features? I don't know, but we'll see how that goes.

Hope thats not the case lizard.. But with all the sales this game has had so quickly its worrisome..there is alot of polish needed & several missing key features promised in the kick starter..

I personally see no reason why Uber won't continue developing PA.

They haven't released info about any other large development projects yet (other than the relatively small mobile games).

I would imagine they will continue full tilt on PA for another few months until they officially start their next big project. At that point, I imagine that a reduced team will continue on PA, whilst other people are moved over to "the next big thing"... Which kinda makes sense, once PA's engine and underlying systems are refined and fully stable quite a few of the programmers will have time on their hands. They can start a new project whilst the art guys keep adding stuff to PA and such. As PA gets more stable and established more people can move over to Big Project 2 (tm)....

Now real question is, what will Big Project 2 entail, and will they do another Kickstarter (I'd be interested in backing them again)...

I guess it comes down to what you define as "very near". 2014 is still quite long and I expect them to release it at the end of this year. But to me that's not "very near" :p

End of summer at the earliest would be my guess. They wouldn't release a boxed "early access" if they were going to release in a few weeks.

The prime things we are missing right now that I think need to be in 1.0 is gas giants, and lots of polish and balance, especially in GW.

If you've played the most recent PTE, you'll see a big jump in UI polish.

It will be interesting to see how the balance goes back and forth, and how much the community will influence it, I'm sort of late on the scene, but I understand that it has already been a hot topic so far.

Not sure why gas giants are such a big deal...orbital is the most boring part of the game

We're working on a lot of hotly-anticipated features in the background. The next couple of months are going to be very interesting.

This is exactly what I imagine they will do :p

We still have plenty of time to finish the features. And we now have a decent list of those that won't make 1.0. So, I think it'll turn out very well.

Though our community manager is to darn vague! Always building hype :D
