Anyone notice that when dragging a circle for area patrol for air units that come out of the factory.... they dont really form a circle its more of a line?
The area infers they patrol inside of that area. There is a slower method to obtaining a circular patrol. Pros and cons to it too. But the method is, click point after point holding down shift, until you "connect the dots" a circle around the area you want. It doesn't have to be a circle, it can be an oval, rectangle, or figure 8 if it covers a proxy or neighbor base. What I used to do before area command, is use a pentagram pattern, click in a star pattern around the base, because that guards a circular area AND the inside of the circle to avoid "cluster" and to prevent "perimeter running". But the area patrol does that, it guards the interior and mostly the exterior too. It works as intended for the most part.
Yeah I know what area patrol should do.... I am not expecting my circular area command to have the units patrol just the outer perimeter....What I am saying is the area command makes the units patrol roughly the circular area I define but there is a definite bias towards it being more in a straight (often diagonal) line than I would expect!
Yea this is still happening to me on occasion. Instead of patrolling the entire area they all travel back and forth on the same line.
From the very, very beginning, i have mentionned Air units should move the way they used to move in Supcom. Apart from patroling, Air units should describe nice curves, which is only the case for Bombers.
