Ok ladies and gents - New build is up. There are some important things to be looking for in this. - First up, any UI strangeness, especially unusual behavior with the build bar, the unit selection info, etc. You should see significant perf and responsiveness improvements, but it may also act.. weird. - Client crashes in general. If you start to see client crashes when before everything was solid (As in, the previous PTE build), post about it here. All the normal caveats - disable mods, etc. We need to make sure the crashes are from new code, not a faulty/out of date mod. This build includes the first pass of multi-threading the client. This means: If you're on a quad core hyperthreaded machine, you'll probably see peak CPU usage go from 12% total CPU utilization to closer to 20-22% (ish). We have more changes coming that might be able to help get that to 30% under heavy load, but.. small steps. And of course, a lot of other fixes, improvements, and things we're doing to try and improve the feel of the build. Check it out, and let us know. I've enabled US Central AND EU West to get a little more coverage. Don't get used to this - I really want more people trying this build out.

Very nice. Love the new orbital icons. So much easier to see and select. Very smooth game play. We've seen this a couple times. We caught it in a debugger today, so I'm hoping there's a fix coming (or possibly done) for it.
Good addition. Always want to see if there bandwidth usage differences between stable/PTE and EU/US. Have weird feeling that my ISP throttle bandwidth to US.
Oh good, this has happened to me a lot. I was about to mention it. So far what I'm noticing: Huge improvement to unit selections. I can now make box selections over and over again, and my framerate doesn't dip The selection box still trails a little behind the cursor for some reason, but it isn't that bad. Build menus pop up in a timely manner after selecting factories / fabricators, which is good. As with the selection box it isn't instantaneous, but it's much better Issue that's still present: mouseover in build menus is still slow to respond, which feels clunky and kinda throws me off. Other things I noticed: When both T1 and T2 mex are on the same point, the layering of the icons flashes. This is now noticeable because of the T1 mex icon's drop shadow. When my astraeuses left orbit to travel to another planet, their command menu (right hand side) disappeared, leaving only the ping option. Even when they reached their target, the menu would not appear when they were selected, so I couldn't give them orders that way. I had to F5 in order to fix it. (Also, it'd be cool if we could have an "area unload" feature, so that we could drop units sparsely throughout an area )
Since you seem to be in the business of making model/texture changes to units when it suits modders and isn't much work, I'd appreciate it if you rigged the forward facing cannon on the stingray so that we can add it with mods.

No mods The game also crashes a few minutes into every game, but stable does that too so it's not a regression
Smells to me of a deleted or non-function base_commander.json file. The mod changes would, I suspect, render most if not all unit.json files invalid so I'd avoid using server mods until they're updated.
UI was beautifully smooth, none of the clunkiness from previous PTE, was very nice. Until 14:23 into the match, when the client promptly crashed, with VS giving the following cryptic message: all mods disabled. A short time prior to this, the location of the tiles in the build bar got all scrambled, though there was enough time between that I doubt they are related.
Out of curiosity, what's your resolution? You look like you're _right_ near the bottom of our minimum supported resolution, if not below it. In which case, this may simply be a sizing issue, which should be easy for us to solve. Try and alt-tab for true full screen and see if that helps. It may not if you're that close to the min res, but it may add just enough to help.

I'm not sure what that res was exactly since it was windowed, probably the minimum (I didn't change it from when the game started) I tried a much larger window, and also true fullscreen, but still no build UI. BTW, do you give out PDBs? Feels a lot better. Just played a 47 min multi planet match. Was awesome. Have never had a game with that many units that stayed at a decent pace. Had one or two slow downs but mostly good. I did get the bug with the black box cursor though and when selected units I could not see the icons for individual units in the corner
Sadly it looks like PTE 68079 still crashes on MacOS X 10.9.4 (13E25)... same as PTE 67998. Locks up at the end of the start game count down with a coherent crash. Reconnecting also crashes after login accepted.
