Alright, I'm one of the "new guys". I've got a quick question: I'm down to the last planet of a "leader" planetary system. One got suicided by the AI for whatever reason, I managed to conquer one by dropping fabricators and building a teleporter, and now a single planet is left. That single planet, however, sports three (!) enemy commanders, is filled with advanced tech, its orbit is littered with Avengers. I do not have access to air tech, to orbital tech, or to tech with which to smash planets. What can I do in this case? I thought about mass-dropping fabricators (50-100) in the hopes of getting a teleporter up. I've got a 600+ unit vehicle army waiting to transfer. Any other chances?
Might be an obvious question, but do you have a spare planet you can throw at them? (God it's fantastic to be able to actually ask someone that question - I love this game)
If you can actually get some stuff to the surface try mass dropping infernos directly onto the commanders. Or reroll, I've found the most effective strategy is to rush them before they can get built up.
Ah. Damn. Advanced vehicles? An Astreus Vanguard drop could be quite lethal. Do you have access to Astreus...es? Astreii?
your best bet would be a mass drop of infernos or vanguards (if you have them) directly on top of the enemy commanders.
My first time with this problem I was getting hit by bombers as soon as I landed anything. I ended up landing many many hundreds of AA Bots in waves. Eventually it thinned the bombers until I could land some fabbers and build 3 or 4 teleporters. The extras were backups because they were destroyed so easily. Once the teleporter was up I spammed through tanks and built rings of defenses to protect the teleporters. It took several hours with the hardest part being the AA spam.
Thanks for all of your ideas. I decided to reroll with a larger universe for a higher chance to have orbital and other tech in a similar situation .
Without orbital tech it isn't easy to find them. The AI normally will have some squads of Avengers patrolling as well. And their commanders by this late game stage will be normally chilling out in the middle of a mass of umbrellas and anchors, but yeah, if you can find the commander and get the ground troops on to the ground then they should survive long enough to kill her. All very fun For OP: I think you have to establish a beachhead to be able to send out scouts to find them. Try landing a couple of advanced fabricators in a quiet area (near a pole) using Astreae and get them to immediately build a teleport gate through which you send an assault squad with anti air. You can then fortify this teleporter and launch a war of attrition. While you tie up the enemy with you mindless assaulting units you can try to find the commanders to assault. I found myself in a similar position to you (basic vehicle tech + economy techs only) and, following the above strategy, was on track to grinding them into the ground but I quit after the game slowed down so much (1 server FPS) due to the number of units etc (this was a peak playing time so there must have been quite some server load). The in-game time was about 60 mins when I just got too tired of playing in a slide-show, but real-time it had been edging on 3 hours. Still, I was pleased that I (with no sub commanders) had managed to dominate 3 out of the 4 celestial bodies. But yes, I did what you did and re-rolled on Uber sized universe. There is a disgusting amount of good tech lying around in it compared to small.
