Hey, what do you guys think the ESRB rating for the game will be? It has explosions and destruction and such, but it also has a pretty cartoonish aesthetic. Just wondering, because why not speculate on what it'll be rated? (Translation: I randomly thought up the topic when reading that it's rating was pending and just thought "Hm... what would it be anyhow?"
Reading through the ESRB Rating guidlines( http://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings_guide.jsp ) I only found two categories wich would apply to PA: Fantasy Violence - Violent actions of a fantasy nature, involving human or non-human characters in situations easily distinguishable from real life Violence - Scenes involving aggressive conflict. May contain bloodless dismemberment This would give PA a rating somewhere around the Teen level.
They were asked this in a livestream many moons ago. neutrino said something along he lines of they wouldn't submit it for rating unless they were required to by that country. I suspect selling the physical game requires a rating in america or europe.
http://www.amazon.com/Planetary-Annihilation-Standard-Edition-Multiple-Pc/dp/B00IJQLQH8/ It's rated 10+ for the Early Access Retail Edition
Paha, I was hoping it'd be something E, E 10+ works. XD It's just so funny to see it rated E 10+, idk.
I really thought PA be rated teen considering that is what age of mythology has and a nonsensical provision in the EULA restricts it to age 13 and above. Aso amazon.ca says reading pending. http://www.amazon.ca/Planetary-Anni..._sbs_vg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=19MJSMW68N49PYXM8511 Five of the Canadian provinces require ESRB rating on all games to be sold by retailers and the rating is enforced by the respective film review board (aka censorship board). Some major Canadian retailers require ESRB rating in order to be sold in their stores irregardless of law. Contrast that with the United States where it is mostly voluntary depending on respective state.
We already know the PEGI reading it is rated PEGI 7. http://www.amazon.com/Planetary-Ann..._sbs_vg_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1ATQ3W5797BHVYPPB8DV
Well ESRB rating is http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=33424&Title=Planetary Annihilation Edit: never mind you can't link to it. Edit2: link should work now for some reason was licking it as http:// www. esrb.org/ratings/search.jsp
There's not really that much keeping it from an E rating, honestly. But even if there was, it's not like it would matter. Ever since the ESRB was conceptualized it was useless and to THIS DAY it's useless because 99% of parents don't care to look at the box for more than 3 seconds, and you need look no further than the CoD franchise to prove this. And as someone who did grow up in that 1% household, it really does get to me when I'm playing an m-rated game and all I can hear are a bunch of 12 year old's spouting the word "faggot" like they were members of the Westboro Baptist Church. ... *ah-hem* err, anyway it has an E-10 rating, it's also apparently on the Xbox 360
http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=33424&Title=Planetary Annihilation&searchkeyword=Planetar Annihilation That works I think. Why is 360 listed as a platform? Dang it tehtrekd, ninja'ing meh!
