Completely agree! The controls and the mechanics were both designed with a controller in mind, I had a bunch of fun with it myself too! :D

I still liked RA3 on console more, but that was more difficult. Mind you, it was adapted well for an RTS console port, it used a build wheel at least. Playing Rising Sun was more difficult because of the scale of screen movement however, having to scroll around a lot of the map.

Hitboxes are configured differently (bigger) on consoles to compensate for the less precise aiming controls though.

can be easily solved on both ...

PC - plug in a controller
Console - allow keyboardcontrols and mouse, plug in a bluetooth keyboard and mouse .... or create a controler with 50+ buttons

There is an adapter to plug M/KB into a console like the 360. The Xbox One even accepts them by default (?)

Ok, here are my thoughts on a hypothetical control layout.

L1 (left shoulder) - previous planet
R1 (right shoulder) - next planet
L2 (left trigger) - zoom out
R2 (right trigger) - zoom in
    Left Stick -Move 'mouse'
    Right Stick - Rotate planet
    Y - middle click
    A - left click
    B - right click
    X - not sure

group select ... without group select it's useless ... how could it be done?

In Halo wars I believe it was holding down X would bring up a little circle to select multiple units you'd drag it around.

I'm getting tired of this perception! D:

Stop with your Halo Wars already! You have mentioned it what feels like 10 times already. It's still a heap of trash! Watching gameplay of it sends cold shivers down my spine and makes me feel sick! You have close to zero control over your units. There apparently aren't even unit stances... like what?? I for one am not even contend with the control power in SupCom. But this Halo Wars thing... *shudders*

I remember trying out some CnC, which I had borrowed from a friend, for the N64 like 15 years ago. I couldn't stand playing it with a controller for more than 5 minutes. RTS and controllers do not go along. Period.

How about not and say there is not one?:p

In all seriousness RTS's are not really made for consoles. The really designed for personal computers in mind. Even if their made for consoles they don't really work; from my experience.

Whew, I only keep suggesting it as people keep saying it's impossible to make an RTS on a console, but in my opinion it was great for example of a game that had both controls and mechanics fit for a controller, I'm not talking about gameplay here, or story, or anything, I'm just talking about it's mechanics and controls.

    Calm down, will you? o_O

And those are exactly terrible. Thus it does not make the point that RTS can be made to work for controllers/ consoles. Quite the on the contrary. Repeating mentioning it is therefore pointless.

How so was it "terrible"? It is a much better attempt than any RTSs prior (That I have played) at the very least. You said you had watched gameplay of it, then you've not even played it? Then sorry but what you say holds no water as you couldn't even give an opinion based on experience.

The game was too zoomed in for my tastes and playing it now, it hurts my eyes for that very reason, but I can still use it, with a controller, a lot easier than other RTS games I've tried. The game was designed with a controller in mind the whole time, and you can really feel the difference.

Edit: In fact, even @thetrophysystem agrees that it just felt better. Another person who has actually played the game and can talk through experience.

So because it is less **** than other RTS it makes the point that RTS can be made to work on consoles? Makes no sense.
And I don't need to play it to see that it's horrible by PC RTS control standards.
So, it is less **** than other RTS on consoles. No big deal. But it is horrible still from a PC RTS perspective.

    No! Just, no.

An RTS on a console needs to be designed from the ground up.
There was a bad port of Supreme Commander 2 for the console, it failed, miserably

yes they do, because you can plug in any type of controller you want. you don't have to play PC games with just KB+M you know.

like Popededi said, controllers are inferior at aiming in FPS games objectively. they have to essentially add in auto aim for contollers on FPS games so they can aim half-decent. just like how RTS games for consoles have their controls gimped due to a lack of precision that comes only with KB+mouse.

similarly, racing games aren't great for KB+M due to the lack of control in acceleration and turning, whereas a controller does give you that control. but a proper gaming steering wheel is even better than both control schemes.

The largest backing for SF4 and it's predecessors are XBL. Thats why most players have XBL in front or end of their name. Not playstation, not pc.

Fact. Live with it. The only other glamorous SF4 port is of course the Arcade Machine.
