Who has won Galactic War on Absurd difficulty?

    Well it was taking me 40 minutes per game - so much grind lol. Might take you shorter.

    With that moon planet faction commander, there are like 4 of them each on their own moon. They usually have 2 commanders on normal systems, 3 commanders on the system before the faction leader, and 4 on the faction leader one.

    I think the way to beat the moon one might be teleport and kill 2nd commander quickly. Then keep your commander on that planet and teleport to your main planet when you hear planet coming. Then kill next commander and repeat. I can't of think any other way to beat it. If you lose your main planet, they'll teleport onto your 2nd one while you're building up again and then gg.

    Also, Invade and occupy the *smallest* moon in the system. That way you *cannot* be targeted by a planet smash :)

    edit: It seems you're right about mods inadvertantly making things easier, I just played through with the loadout mod enabled but using a standard loadout. However it shadows gw_start, so an old version of that was being used which basically means there were less ai than there should have been :S I was scratching my head wondering why people were saying it was so hard :p

    BTW, is there a way to add cards to
    in gw_start.js without shadowing? And changing something in the GameViewModel.

    There's three opposing factions, with you makes four. There are between 12 and 78 systems depending on size chosen, roughly 3/4 will be populated with enemies, but you don't have to fight all of them. The Uber size can be completed in ~16 games. The smaller systems are arguably harder because you barely get any tech before you start fighting, and you get to faction leader battles sooner.

    Why am I so unlucky when it comes to finding basic factory tech? I had four attempts so far without being able to build units :(

    that BACON commander tho...

    I think the commander commander is the best for this challenge, If you can actually build units. Those two extra friends are the perfect distraction for the AI, and turns out, if you die, your allies still live and fight. They don't stand a chance of course, but I like how it does that.

    Edit: okay, no it doesn't, it's just glitchy.
    Thanks for making me miss an efficiency tech FIVE TIMES before giving me a data bank, game -.-

    Edit: Bot loadout is, for example, bugged.

    I'm having a hard time countering advanced air with only basic vehicle xD even with myself and 3 sub commanders I can only take out one of the two ai's the other builds up orbital and defense platforms (some times lazer platforms which kill my sub commanders as the don't build umbrellas often) also metal planets make my ai and my own units get stuck quite a bit... its rather annoying -.- but I tried to beat this one ai for almost 3 hours then gave up...

    My conclusion thus far is that the mode is aptly named.

    I think adding a game mode between the current relentless difficulty and absurd would be a good idea. The gap right now is quite large.

    Air is still WAY too powerful to deal with.
    I was kicked off the planet (bad starting position, water start and no naval tech) so I set up shop on the next planet over.
    After taking all the metal and kicking the enemy's expansion off, I decided it was time to attack.
    And no matter what I did, this planet would not crack.
    Even sending a good hundred units via astraeus doesn't work, hornets will make short work of most of an attack force, and before you know it the gunships are sent in to clean-up.
    Anti air vehicles can barely get a chance to hit anything, teleporters are shut down before they're built and since there's no avengers, dropping things on top of an enemy commander is 100% impossible.

    You seriously should be able to build avengers (maybe even T1 orbital radar) from the get-go.

    Yeah, if you don't get orbital tech then you can get forced into stalemates very easily, avengers need to be considered as 'essential' units that don't depend on tech.

    Unfortunately, my war is broken, every time I try to start the next battle I get a 'failed to connect to server' message and get dumped back on the galactic map after about a minute.

    I'll start a new one tomorrow, determined to beat this stupid absurd difficulty. My last one was going so well! C'est la vie.

    The problem isn't really the difficulty, its WAY more about what you don't have. If you have the vech. commander and you attack 4 ai on multiple planets all of whom have all the tech its not really a going to go well. Like others have said this really leads to you having to "level up" by getting a set of techs that allows you to at least have ways to counter things. (By the way with the latest patch where bots don't have AA that load out isn't as easy to start off with) Also the artillery commander seems WAY hard to start with. If you don't get lucky draws you basically have to turtle your way across the planet and hope the other guys doesn't leave.

    I start with the orbital load out and restart until I start with vehicles or air. Bots are worthless against vehicles and air and since the AI always seems to have both, I don't even bother taking bot tech unless I already have vehicle tech and want combat fabbers.

    I completed absurd properly on an uber sized galaxy with the vehicle loadout (just using the hotfix to fix speed cards to work as they are supposed to). Took plenty of screenshots and made a storyboard of sorts.

    I completely lost to a massive air rush and a small (1-2 tanks) land attack using the bot load out, that was not a good idea(Uber picked a bad time and place to be changing the unit loadouts).
    anyone else have an luck?

    Nice stuff! Grats!

    Now your next challenge is to do it on small/medium without sub commanders ;)

    Don't use bots at all unless you want to die. Use vehicles + spinners + air factories
