No, slots work as normal. Some other people have had your issue (somewhere on the forum).

This thread is heavily lacking in Victory posts!

Fine, I accept the challenge... So this is on the hardest difficulty, largest galaxy and on the current patch right? not PTE?

been awhile since I've been in thought I'd make sure, starting up war now, will let you guys know when its all over :)

*Edit* I died on the 2nd battle myself and a sub commander vs 2 ai (same as first battle but it was one planet plus they had advanced tech) I was doing okay to start but they had defences and units countering my push, then once the advanced units came out my T1 armies couldn't get to the base only hold them back, ran low on eco needed to out mass them and then orbital lazer came around and killed me and the sub commanded (was abit distracted by t2 air bomber missiles going after my com...) btw I was using the vehicle commander thought it would be a good baseline... quick question what is the eco bonus for absurd? and I'm guessing ai got better because I've beaten nightmare before :/

*Edit Edit* started again, had a bigger area for free tech, already have super wepons, advanced orbital, arty and bot tech, if I can find another slot and a sub commander I think I'll be pretty well off

I'll take a crack at this too. I've been somewhat hesitant due to invasion problems in GW but I'll start with the orbital commander so atleast I'll be able to drop a pile of lasers on a stubborn AI if need be.

If I was to try this would I need to collect cards or can I go right in and play it? Haven't played gw yet.

You don't have to play on the biggest galaxy. Just the Absurd difficulty.

I figure that the bigger the galaxy the more tech and data slots I can get to give me the best chance, it just takes longer fighting on all the planets leading up to the bosses, my second run is going much better but I do need to get some sleep, I'll keep this thread updated on my progress.

Murcanic is right, playing on the smallest galaxy ends up with you getting into a fight against two buffed AI immediately - it lends itself to being squashed in the middle somewhat...

I didn't play PA since I have the metal spot icon bug. That won't hold me from completing absurd GW.

I believe I will start streaming this when I get home myself. I had to recently download some streaming software to capture a meeting and some googledocs. That being said, at the very least an hour recording was no trouble for it, quite to my suprise.

I will use the turretless all tech 1 assault commander. I will probably go medium size for time sake.

I actually think this is a good thing... As people have said above, *it is possible* to win games at that difficulty, so *it is possible* to win it however it looks like even experienced players are finding it hard. I think the hardest setting for the campaign should be like that.

Well, spent ages getting up to the last faction commander dude on medium. Was the one with the 4 moons. Was looking sweet, about to kill one of the commanders. Then random dramatic music started playing, which was puzzling, untill a planet came flying out of nowhere.

I throw in the towel. You couldn't pay me enough to go through that grind all over again. Absurd indeed...

Well yea, if you go medium instead of small you have a higher chance of 2 free techs to start with. You can still get 2 free techs on small, but it's more rare.

The ai is actually quite predictable, and not very good at killing you later on when it obviously can. They'll air spam, and then try sxx snipe over and over instead of just using their overwhelming eco advantage to roll over you with tons of t2. If you can turtle them long enough and hold some metal, they get stuck in a loop and just keep sending sxx's into your umbrellas + the occasional holkin. So you get heaps of time to catch up and kill them.

To have a decent chance at surviving that long though, I think you need atleast one of the macro techs (+40% resource from mex/pgen, or -50% cost mex/pgen).

The bigger the galaxy, the easier it is because you start with more tech, but the more grindy. An improvement would be only a few free systems for a little starting tech (or none), instead of as big a chunk of the galaxy as all the other factions get.

Wow sounds like I have a lot to learn. Finished work in a couple of hours so will stream then. Does it take long for an attempt? Yeah was planning on them being predictable. How plausable is it to snipe the guy on the other planet first? How many dudes are there anyhows?
