Well, I tried to search on the topic with no luck (just in case Mr. Brian would shoot me)...

So, any of you remember these guys?

    I loved them!!

It would be lovely if PA had something similiar to these. Don't you all think? ;)

I'd highly recommend taking a look at this thread: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/its-time-to-talk-unit-ideas.52165/

Tons of unit ideas and discussions on that thread.

I'd rather see an air transport that is bigger and capable of picking up and moving ships. Could use that to build up a navy and then move it to another lake.

And/or: I'd love to see teleporters able to be built on water. Then all water planets are more valid.

All in all though, naval will be pointless until wrecks sink.

    Hell yeah, those were awesome.
Remember seeing them in the SupCom trailer. My hype went up to 11.

Well, these guys weren't necessary about lake-to-lake movement back then... more like to crawl out of sea to wreak some havoc deep within the land.

And with the Slammer's recent ability to go underwater and go pew-pew with torpedoes, I think naval needs something like that, but in reverse.

I also support your suggestions with the ship transporter and teleporters in water.

Yea, we have amphibious bots, but not something that goes the other way if you start in water.

NO, this is exclusive from SupCom...

    That's an insanely bad argument.
That's like saying "No! This game can't have Commanders! That's exclusive to TA!!"

How about hovercraft produced from the naval factory?

I haven't experimented with naval sufficiently to provide any worthwhile suggestions, but I can imagine hovercraft that act as corvettes or even cruisers.

In SupCom I sometimes squeezed a naval factory into a pond to get some artillery.

    this.

also everyone keep in mind in SupCom the Salems had a speed of 5, while once on land it was 1

OK, but can be probably problematic, having a ship that is OP on Ground to be usefull on water, or be UP on water to not be op on ground...

...dude get ready to loose your argument.

Walking ships are like the GOD of RTS.... there is nothing the community won't do to get them.

    But can this be balanced?
    unless if is:
    - A "T-3" Exp ship that can operate in both ground and land, but is less usefull than the ground Exp in close range combat, because its have long range guns...
    OR
    - A T-2 Destroyer, that have only a bit more power than a regular destroyer but its cost is the same of a T-2 Ship.
If is the first case, Cool, but in the second case, i will prefer some anfibious tanks.

Actually, from what I find, having walking boats is kinda pointless as most mobile artillery is much better at that job anyway.

Boats are never build in these games to fight swarms of smaller units, and don't focus on the weapons to deal with a swarm at their heels.

But of course, if they did, they would be useless boats, because naval warfair is long-ranged exchanges and fending off air-forces.

Compared to land battles, land battes are a practical melee.

Walking boats could easily be balanced to walk on land, but other then for some kind of cool look, there really is no need.

What we need is ships designed to support an amphibious landing, because they really do suck at doing it.

I don't think that only puting a low speed only will be needed to balance.
also I agree to what igncom1 said
and is better to have a tank/bot-ship, than a ship-bot/tank.
P.S. probably the salem is only balanced because of the T-3 units...
P.S.2. yet an EXP-like ship would be awesome!

why not have the walking boat be a fast cheap swarm unit built for close-range combat like a naval version of the inferno that is amphibious but is only built from the naval factory

Well I actually DO want battle skiffs to go with our current ironclads.

Get some pirate boarding actions going on, except the pirates are plasma.

this can be a cool thing... like a corvette that can turn into a bot/tank, but having some drawbacks, or be slow as a T-1 tank, or have more range for naval combat, but yet be more slow
