We've talked about it, and now it's here. Our first big pass on combat balance. Always keep in mind, things like this are a work in progress, but this has a significant change to how the game plays, and we think it's a lot more fun. (Try out the Boom bots. They're the bomb)

There are a ton of changes in this build, including Mac full screen for those who've been asking! Hop in, check it out, and have fun. There have also been some fundamental changes to how we send and receive network data that should help everyone, but especially people on slower connections.

    We'll see you in game!

Build 67457 resolves a number of game and crash issues.

Build 67523 addresses a crash on lobby creation and two different Mac OS/X crashing issues.

    Detailed Balance Notes:

    - All non-combat structures health increased by 3x.
    - General combat balance pass over ALL combat units and structures.
    - T1 AA Bot: Removed.
    - New T2 Tactical Missile Bot added.
    - T2 Sniper Bots: Can now shoot down tactical missiles.
    - T1 Assault Bots: Turned into light raiders. Fast, cheap, weak.
    - T2 Assault Bot:s Can now go under water, added torpedo.
    - T1 Bomb Bots: speed greatly increased.
    - T2 Tank: Has a very slow turret turn rate but improved overall.
    - T1 Fighter: Improved.
    - T2 Fighter: Removed.
    - T1 Bomber: Drops 5 bombs in carpet bomb style.
    - T2 Bomber: Fires from outside of range of AA towers and fires a tactical missile.
    - T1 Frigate: Torpedo removed.
    - T1 Destroyer: Torpedo added.
    - Pass on Artillery structures and their firing arcs.
    - Tactical Missile Launcher Structure: Energy removed, range reduced, made into much more of a base defense.
    - Bases defenses improved overall.
    - Ion Cannon: (Umbrella): Energy usage removed, range and damage increased.

What the hell? This build was pushed right in the middle of the PACE tournament!

    Come on!

    Planned!

As usual, I vote we blame Scathis and Garat for another excellent troll.

This is not an excellent troll.

This is a really bad troll.

It's ruined the tournament. Players are losing because they don't know the new build, and prize money is on the line.

This is really pissing off a lot of players. :-/

Edit: I'm glad we got the new build. The new build includes a lot of cool features, but they should have waited at least an hour and a half until we finis the tournament.

I don't seem to be able to change from the US servers to the EU servers. The Save button is greyed out. Are they down or something?

Server mods in stable! Server mods in stable! Server mods in stable!

I think this is the biggest news of the day tbh.

    It's probably not a troll.
Is it difficult to believe that maybe, just maybe, Uber prioritizes releasing a build more than esports?

Uber supports the esports stuff. Metabolical was even in the tournament.

Priorities isn't even much of a factor. All uber needed to do is wait an hour and a half. That's it.

I think Uber should be able to release a build when they feel it's ready. I know it's a bummer for you guys having the tournament but we're still talking about an unfinished game here

Sorry if i sound like a jerk, that's certainly not my intention.

    Cheers,

Of course they can release it whenever they want. It's their game. That doesn't mean it's a good idea to release it at any time.

Over 40 players and spectators were involved in this tournament. Not even counting all of the people watching. Prize money riding on the line. It was also the last tournament to qualify for the Progenitor Cup. For a tournament that had been announced over a month ago. We even had an Uber dev casting the tournament.

The tournament was almost over. All Uber needed to do was wait an hour or an hour and a half.

It killed the tournament and I'm pretty darn upset about that.

I doubt Garat even realized there was a tournament. It isn't like there is a place where he can get a calendar of all the PA events going on.

"Hmm... do we release a build that fixes some the insane server and UI lag that is effecting the entire player base and in some cases is outright ruining gameplay, or do we wait 90 minutes because a tourny that not everyone cares about is going on?"

Honestly, I'd think if anything the tournament would get more interesting, people would have to rethink and learn new strategies on the fly, wouldn't that truly separate the men from the boys?

What I don't get is that it's saturday. Since when do they push builds on weekends or even fridays? Not to mention nearing the end of business hours in the US?

Or is there something I'm missing here?

Okay, does anyone have a way to work around having shift/ctrl/something stuck every time I give an order?

Currently it seems that every time I give a queued order I have to mash shift+ctrl+cmd to unstick whichever key It is that gets stuck. While this would be workable if I only had to do it between different units, it sadly occurs often enough to make queueing the commander's initial build order cripplingly annoying.
