Exponentially increasing 'upkeep' costs?

    Just a Context Reminder, but the "1 Million Unit Goal" was intended mostly as a technical achievement, not a gameplay one.

    For example, SupCom FA can have 1000 Basilisks on screen at once;

    Which is over a million triangles, but that doesn't mean it's even remotely practical in terms of gameplay! ;p

    You are correct that it's a technical achievement.

    However, that does mean that we should not be making gameplay balance changes because we're concerned about performance.

    Performance optimizations are far from complete and running our current size matches will be a breeze when we get there.

    It does mean that we should be careful with our wording when using that thought, your wording could easily be mis-interpreted to make it seem like both a technical and gameplay goal. ;p

    I would prefer for the slideshow problem to be fixed than to constrain the number of units we can have on the screen.

    I would like to remind you PA is moddable, so you will probably see a mod along these lines for players like you.
