Any tricks for testing mods that interact with alliances, or do I need to buy another game key?

You can't play two games with one account. So you need another game key or a friend.

At least technically you can. However you can't join a single game two times with the same account.

Have the cheat that let's you switch teams, add an ai with 0 eco, and you can switch between you and them, if you need them to have an army just copy a unit on your side and paste, don't worry the ai is basically turned off once it realizes it has no eco.

Yes, but they don't respond to alliance requests, and so far as I can tell the player UI doesn't update to allow me answer for it, even if I hack the UI elements to appear for an AI.

My particular point of interest is eco sharing (at the moment) Are you saying that team armies, non-shared-army also has eco sharing?

I think the best way would be to log onto the PA modding or PA general IRC and ask for a volunteer to help with testing.

I didn't think it would be very much fun while I stare at code. Maybe I could set it up for the assistant to fight an AI (and hopefully protect my idle com)

Well wouldn't they just need to log in and then go back to whatever they were doing? You could send them a message every once in awhile if they need to do something.

Hah I might help you here. In the mean time I can stare at some code myself.
