I've tried everything after turning them on: * Try to link the teleporters by clicking on one teleporter and then the other * Selecting a unit and clicking use on either on or off planet teleporter * Selecting unit and clicking move on the other planet * Click on one teleporter and click move on the other planet Do these things work? If so how?
you have to select the first teleporter when your energy is positive, then right click on the second teleporter. I don't really know what else you could be doing to turn them on anyway.
left click teleporter -> right click other teleporter to link them. After they're linked, send units through them by selecting the units and ordering them to 'use' a teleporter.
Alright, I've gotten to the bottom of this and I see the issue. I'm on a Macbook Pro. CTRL+click is the default right click and that action is not being registered as a right click in PA. If I turn on two finger click for the right click I am able to successfully link teleporters. There should be an action in on the right menu to link them regardless.
tsk...ever play Portal? well, the cake is a lie... But that's not on topic. what is, is the same buttons work here. you left mouse click one, then right mouse click the other. Just like if you had a portal gun aimed at two planets oh, mac, yeah wait for bindable keys?
What you said about Macs not having an inherent right-click function is important to know. Any news on if multi-button input will be fixed/implemented by Uberent (if only for right clicks or other small edge-case-type issues)?
Sometimes, one of the teleporters can be set to not use energy, which will result in both teleporters being linked but neither opening.
I do hope they change this, it is really bad UX. Right-click is not used anywhere else that I'm aware of, it's completely unintuitive and I had to go look it up. Almost everything else in the game "just works" and is a joy to use to me. It seems like the "Move", "Use", or "Assist" commands would make sense here since they have no other purpose for the gate structure.
It made sense to me, left click to select, and then, since left clicking again would just select the other teleporter, right click was the only option to make it do something. It's also in line with everything else, left click to select, right click to do action.
...dang, I had no idea! That is going to completely change how I play this game. Still, this is the only case where right-click is the only way to issue a command.
The adaptive commands (move while hovering over terrain, assist while selecting a building, use while selecting a teleporter, attack while selecting an enemy unit, etc.) have to be done with right click; normal commands can be issued, but it takes coordination and an extra key press. The teleporter's "link" command is an exclusively adaptive one. Though, if they added a command for it on the sidebar (so it can be used without adaptive commands), that would make a bit more sense.
Just to add in on teleporter use friendlyness, perhaps using shift + scroll wheel when you have a teleport selected makes you switch between all teleporters you have so you can quickly select a target.
