Awesome Night "Bug"

Uber... I know this isn't entirely deliberate (it's something to do with the latest graphics driver) since the UI/Unit Lights don't work/play with it, however it does look extremely awesome.
So awesome, that despite me knowing how to turn it off (and doing so) I turned it back on...
It was playable because of icons.

Pretty please with asteroids on top let this be an option in-game, with a night darkness slider in graphics settings, and the necessary UI/Unit lighting.
It would look amazing if the Metal Planet's trenches were all lit up in this darkness.

Honestly, I miss the days when HDR was noticeable; There was such a cool difference from night and day! I would love a darker night. Makes the lights look better too

I would like this, current is that you can not tell if its night or if that is just the FOW.

Another person with Intel HD line of cards? Or that new Nvidia driver screw up... Yeah, it does look nice and pretty, but It's a little hard to see when I need it. I don't play using the icons only, especially not early game, so it messes up me at least...

Those explosions pop in the darkness so well!
So cool to see such a division between night and day. At the moment in the game the difference isn't really that noticeable.

On a semi off-topic note, is there ANY way to get this to happen on Radeon HD cards?

I agree - it'd need for terrain and units to be more clearly lit than the pitch-black they're in here, but a much darker night than we currently have would look amazing.
It just felt different to play as well. More spacey, more intense. Partly the missing skybox too.

Edit: Nvidia screw up I literally updated my driver to see if this would happen haha.

Did you ever take a look at my moon blocking out the sun? Intel HD seems to have it even worse! Haha!

Turn off ambient occlusion, that should fix it, oh and @eroticburrito I'll go fetch the link for it.
