try setting cinematic mode to "on". try with that and then try "off" again.

i've had a friend for whom the value was inverted.

also press control-P and give me a screenshot.

Ok, I went into the Settings. I turned On the Cinimatic Mode. Then clicked Save, then went back to the game, still no build panel in the UI.
Then I went back into the Settings and noticed it was OFF again...
This may or may not be a separate issue, but the Settings I click to save are not being saved.

I did it both ways, with the Cinematic mode On and Off, still no build panel.
I've even completely uninstalled the mods.

    see the screenshot helps.

because from what I see you definitely DO have SOME UI.

you're missing the selected unit's panel.

You have the left hand side pannel it's just not opening up. so the problem is that it's not registering units as selected.

open PAMM and uncheck all mods.

I uninstalled all the mods before the screenshot.

this is possibly a bug other people are having and that Uber will get their hands on but i'm not giving up just yet.

how many Coherent UI do you have running in task manager when you run PA?

try full-screen. also try commander auto select mod and Better build bar mod, to stir PA into bringing up the panel.

make sure you have c++ runtime installed. (at this point we want to be looking for exterior factors, something's hindering Coherent UI)

I also did Task Manager, only one Coherent UI was showing as running.
The game won't run without runtime. (as far as I know, but I'll check it again anyway.)
    I will try Full screen.
It won't go to full screen, because the settings are not being registered, or saved.

Confirmed Runtime C++ 2010 is installed and working.
I have other games that require it.

I just went back and looked, there are 6 different "Coherent UI", using different amounts of RAM.
    What does this mean?
    How many should there be?

I have 8 different " Coherent UI" processes open.

I have restarted the game, and had to organize the list Alphabetically twice to show all of the "CoherentUI" Hosts.
There are 8 of them as well.
    The issue persists.
I can't get it to go fullscreen, as changing the settings does not take effect, or is not saved.

Coherent UI is based on Webkit (which Chrome is also based on). Our UI creates multiple window contexts, which each create there own process (just like tabs in Chrome). This is why there are multiple processes.

From your screenshot I see that you do have UI, you just don't have a build bar. The unit shows a selection ring, but the UI is not correctly responding to your selection. This points to a client side JavaScript error. Usually, this is caused by mods... I suggest that you archive all your mods and then delete them. Make *absolutely* sure that there are no mods affecting PA.

Once you have verified that there are no mods, try the game in a normal game versus the AI. Just make a game, add an AI, and see if things work.

If the problem is still there we will have to debug the JavaScript. You should have the Coherent debugger bundled with PA. If you find it and run it, there is probably a JavaScript error clearly showing the problem. I'll give you more detailed instruction when I get back to work... on Tuesday.

Kind of side-tracking here, but will the entire UI, including in lobby, menu and in game be a lot faster and more instantaneous? At the moment it's a bit "sticky" and I'm just wondering whether that's the compromise for it's awesome looks or whether you haven't optimised it and tweaked it.

I will go through every bit of the files that I can to get rid of any mods.
(this was something I was afraid would happen if I used mods, which made me reluctant for so long to use them.)
    Thank you for your response!

I love when they give us really good insight like this.
There are SO many things going on in the background in the game that we don't see. To get a glimpse of something like this is helpful and gives me understanding. I appreciate it.

Since this last post/response, I have installed Java, updated Java, and learned that it doesn't run in Firefox, which I use.
I have checked for PAMM, haven't seen any signs of it. I did a disk clean up, restarted the machine, uninstalled (Deleted local files) of PA, restarted the machine again, then re-downloaded PA again, restarted the machine again.
    java is up to date.
    Still having this issue.

Waiting 'till Tuesday. In the mean time I'll look for the PA bundle thing and see if I can find any errors.
If I do find errors I will report it back here.

for the "stickyness" Ko-deffered mod, come back and tell me your results.
    Javascript
scrip is the important word here.

Javascript is a lighter version of java, completely separate from it that can be run from the web without any installation. Hence reinstalling Java won't change a thing.

There must be some kind of residue mod.

delete the mod folder in Appdata

try reinstalling the system. <- I know this sounds bad but this is something I do on a regular basis as windows just inevitably clogs up over time.

this time install windows 8 (or windows 8.1, tough I prefer 8) to get your full 32Gigs of RAM

If you want i'll personally run you through not having to deal with metro.

I found the Debugger. Very cool. I haven't seen one of these since 2007 when I was a QA Analyst.
I ran a game with it running, since I really don't know exactly what I'm missing, it's hard to compare what's going on.
There were errors popping up as I was playing. (I really didn't do anything but watch the commander walk around, get shot at, and eventually get destroyed.)
