They've said no to beam weapons.

It'd look cool, but that's simply not a high enough priority. Lots of other more awesome stuff to be worked on.[/quote]

Oh ok, I think in the last live stream showing off burning trees they talked about working on a new weapon system that would change the game and units in a certain way... when it is not beam weapons, what could it be?

what if, for their "Big rock" feature, they just mailed all of the kickstarter backers large stones?

Beam weapons were off-table since the beginning - I agree that they can be cool, but the developers have expressed a keen interest in the star wars style of laser beam. Especially Jon Mavor. And I agree with them - it looks epic. Ice planet with lots of laser towers and t2 bots? it's like Hoth all over again :D

I would just like beam weapons for orbital satellites, ankers, umbrellas, would also help visually to see that something is happening. Well, now am really curious what is coming next... my guess would be moving orbit again, although they mentioned that it has low priority as well... argh...

Am I missing something here about beam weapons? The patch notes from Feb 18th mentioned beam weapons:
    • Beam Weapons/Instant Hit exists as a weapon type now. They are only used by a few units currently (orbital laser, flack cannon and sniper bot)
    • Engine: Beam particles
    • Gameplay/FX: Change beam weapons back to not always hitting their target even if they miss legitimately. Fix bug causing them to miss to begin with. Was using old positional data, now getting current position.
Anyway, looking forward to finding out what the new big rock feature is!

Not actually part of the sun's mass. Not any more than earth is part of the sun's mass. The main reason why you can't just assume that there is a core is because the internal temperature of any given gas giant isn't strictly known. If the temperature is high enough then the rocky/icy core would just diffuse throughout the planet and so there'd just be liquid, metallic hydrogen in the center.

They call them gas giants because the vast majority of their mass comes from hydrogen and helium which are typically gases on earth, but yeah the intense pressures really mean that there would be no distinction between the gas and liquid form (read: supercritical fluid if you want to get technical) so the name is misleading. Really it's likely that a significant portion of the hydrogen exists in a metallic (essentially a liquid) form because of the intense pressure several earth-masses of material, but their atmospheres are still relatively huge. The smaller gas giants are more like giant ice balls with relatively thin atmospheres when compared with a large gas giant but still incredibly thick compared with planets like Earth or Venus.

    The more you know. Haha

Doing reaearch this summer on supercritical drying.. using carbon dioxide, water and possibly ethelyne glycol.... not hydrogen however... thats an accident waiting to happen. Supercritical fluids have the diffusive charecteristics of gasses while maitaining some peoperties such as density of the fluid.
Im using super critical carbon dioxide to extract caffeine from coffee beans.
Later we will use super critical carbon dioxide to extract methanol from sol gels to create silicon based areogel.

The final goal will be to create an RF aerogel using the same methods and using a blast furnace to knock out everything except the carbon structure. This Carbon aerogel is the lightest solid material on The planet. Discovered last year in april i believe

I did a rough pass on a hotbuild system for gamma, but it was considered too confusing for new players. We will have a new hot key system soon. It should resolve most of the problems with the previous system.

I believe that they aren't real beam weapons. It's more of an instantaneous hit system which can be called a beam weapon.

Most new players don't even use Hotbuild systems.
    I speak out of experience.
