I haven't logged in for about a week and a half now, but when I launched the PA Launcher (PALauncher.exe dated 11/12/2013), it notified me there was a new version available, and asked if I wanted to download it - which I accepted. It went ahead and downloaded, gave me a new icon, and then came up with a pop-up window stating that the launcher would need to reset as an elevated process to complete the update. Immediately a pop-up stating that the mscvp110.dll file was missing came up. Not sure why I had the idea, but I copied the file, along with the msvcr110.dll file, from within the PA diretory (c:\program files (x86)\Planetary Annihilation\PA\) into the parent directory where the new PALauncher.exe was located, and voila it worked (c:\program files (x86\Planetary Annihilation). Just in case someone else runs into this, that is how I resolved it so I figured I would share...
Oh, and I also tried re-running the new launcher with Admin priveleges, as well as renaming the old one back to the original PALauncher.exe, relaunching THAT with admin priveleges, took the download again - and still no dice. This was the only way it worked.
Yep same problem. msvcp110.dll missing after update. EDIT: copying both dll msvcp and msvcr into the root of the install directory of PA worked.
I have the same problem. I copied those files to the root of the install directory, and it no longer asked for it... Now the launcher crashes on startup. This is what I get: Anyone?!
Please check my signature and upload your DxDiag.txt there. Launcher use same basic features as game so it's will depend on graphics drivers too. Also copying of files it's wrong way to fix DLL error. I not sure what VS version Uber using for launcher builds, but I suppose it's 2012 so you just need to install proper Visual C++ Redistributable in your system: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679 Launcher is 32-bit, but I recommend download and install both packages.
after installing the Visual C++ Redistributable 64bit: same problem installed the 32bit-version: Launcher works! Thank you for immediate help!
I tried installing both of those, and it did not solve my problem, I got the same error message as above. BUT! In the meantime, Windows Updater managed to break my system, so I was kinda forced to reinstall Windows (well... wanted to do it anyway for a while)... Aaaand... installed the PA launcher from here.... aaaand... got the same error. This is a completely fresh install with the latest AMD driver and fully updated. My DxDiag attached:
Big THANK YOU goes out to SXX and zehka As you all immagine I had the same problem! Now I don´t like to play around with dll´s. They are there for some reasons so why alter them.. The second idea of SXX was to install the .net-runtime again. But without the hint of zehka I would have never gotten any result because I would have never installed the 32-bit system because my PC runs on 64-bit. It is that simple... Now the startup is taking some more time then it used to do, but in the end I still can play the game. I hope in the future they can fix that a little smoother hence my drivers and PC is and was updated to it´s max. I just set up the whole system again some weeks ago since a internet-virus had fu.. up my browsers. So with hthis clean system all should have worked fine (and did since the last update). So here the 2 steps together for everyone that worked for me: 1. I copied both dll´s in the parent directory of PA, with made the error disappear. But still the programm froze in the beginning. 2. Reupdate the proper Visual C++ Redistributable (32-bit in all cases-->x86-processor type:VSU_4\vcredist_x86.exe) link as SXX provided: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679 then install and voilá... The programm should reinitiate now. Hope that will do for everyone with the same problem. Greetings Daniel
