    Yes, we do.
This is one of the things that makes the planets feel much more alive before you destroy it all.;):eek::D:cool:

I think burning threes add a lot to the game. Firstly trees are recognised as objects, so units will try to walk around them. And secondly they can add a lot of resources so this affects balance. Which would be handy so that at release the balance is more or less final ;)

Yeah i really want tree's that can shoot fire.

So like if you destroy some of them, they attack you, They will be like a neutral faction. You hurt the tree's they burn down your base.

ALL UR BASE R BELONG TO US WHAT U SAY ?

The main "code work" here is not about burning trees. It's about destructible elements in the terrain that impact movement and make the mental decision making for choosing a base location, attacking, etc, far more interesting.

It just happens that trees, especially GIANT FORESTS OF BURNING TREES... happens to be a really awesome way to demo it. :)

The underlying code touches on pathing, collision, recon, weapons systems .. and probably a few more I'm forgetting. It's a big, pervasive system that will ultimately have a big impact on gameplay. The glitz of the burn is just the cool visuals on top.

It depends on your definition of, "now."

As Garat said, other features are meant to be reclaimable and destructable, however we haven't set them all up yet.

That's the answer I wanted to hear, thanks!

About how much metal will they be worth relative to trees?

From what i remember in chat's with bgolus and neutrino, the burning tree's feature has been in the engine for quite a while it just hadn't been turned on yet.
So time investment in getting the burning trees feature enabled was most probably a more viable an idea than trying to implement an idea that would require many hours of brainstorming and programming just to get a basic functioning version in game (unit cannon, gas giants).

I see even more pathfinding problems with units and trees. right now dox spinning like balarina dances and ralley points not working.

    this

in PA there are 2 resources, metal and energy, as a function of time. In PA development its much more confusing, the staff is a very diverse resource that can't all produce one thing the same as another.

also, don't get hopes up, but destructable terrain, does that mean they are in fact doing some work on environment interaction, possibly plateaus and height advantage and destructable land features?

Posting in this thread simply to say that burning trees are a need, and if you don't think they're a need you need to get your priorities in order ;)

I used "need" far too much in that sentence. I need to cut down on that.
