Okay, so. As we all know, some T2 units in PA are direct upgrades of T1 units. This has created a split in the road between what the community thinks is right and what the developers think is right. Some people want advanced to be more specialized, however Uber is going with a philosophy of "It's okay to upgrade some units." Well, what if there were a way to blur the line between "specialized" and "upgraded"? Hear me out for a second. Let's take the Leveler as an example, currently it's pretty much "Unit Cannon 2.0", however it also has two cannons. So, what if the two cannons thing was used in a way to make the Leveler basically a specialized Unit Cannon? Example: Rather than both cannons firing a single focused projectile, the cannons are instead moved to the sides of the vehicle and fire two separate projectiles in a fixed direction. Here's a (terrible) illustration of what I mean. This would make them terrible in a confrontation, especially against bots, leaving that to the Unit Cannons, while still making them effective at destroying structures (remaining true to the name of "leveler".) However, the Unit Cannon can also be used, albeit less effectively, against a base, making a choice where one could either put eco and build power into building a small special force of Levelers to attack a base, or a large heavy army of Unit Cannons. In this choice, both options are entirely valid and neither are better than the other. However, this doesn't take away legitimacy from the Unit Cannon in base attacks because on the way to the base you will likely run into some resistance, making it imperative to have an escort of unit cannons on the front lines, dealing with resisting units and protecting the levelers. Ergo, adding specialization while not removing a direct upgrade. So what do you guys think?
Yup. Trying to Mix side and up grades only really work when units are multifaceted. Like if all land units had an anti-ground gun and a separate anti-air gun because then you can say do a side grade on the AA weapon while doing an upgrade on the AG weapon. You can also do it in terms of Chassis Vs weapon but even that can get pretty messy because the weapon is usually so integral to the unit's role in games like this. Mike
While I wouldn't like the Leveler altered in such way, I'd definitely love to see a new unit that works just like that.
Not quite Stuart, You're talking about hull mounted weaponry, he's talking about weapons place on a turret in such a way that they are ineffectual against the small units, naturally making then fully em effective against the much larger structures. Mike
