Ambient occlusion takes care of stuff like shadows and reflections, right? If that's the case then it doesn't turn off for me. I turned it off, but my stuff still lights up like a christmas candle when the sun is in the right position. EDIT: This isn't about ambient occlusion, it's about the reflection, i changed the thread title.
Nope, ambient occlusion simply adds some more, subtle, shadows to objects. It's mostly noticable around trees and units. Here is the comparison .gif that @bgolus posted:
thanks. Is there a way to turn the reflection off? It's very annoying IMO and with a PC like this, I want as many thing turned off as I can.
It's a bug then. In fact, I believe it to be the same bug that is described in this thread: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/lighting-bug.58902/ Scroll down a bit...someone is having the same problem as you. Apparently it's a bug in AMD's drivers (another one...). Seems like it will be fixed, though Edit: On the second page there is more information about it (even Sorian has your problem ). Try turning on shadows on low and see if it fixes the brightness.
