Our first publicly available stream, this build is not functionally a lot different from what's currently live. Not many code changes. It is, however, a radical departure on the balance side of things. Not going to go into detail about the differences, but high level: Significant adjustment of economic scale between basic and advanced. Pretty big overhaul to orbital, including the introduction of the orbital factory. So many JSON changes across the board they're a bit hard to list out. Suffice it to say, that Basic -> Advanced economy changes quite a bit, as does the function of a number of units (Dox, Anchor, etc). If you've been watching our experimental streams, you already have a sense of what some of these differences are. But if you have an opinion, and haven't been able to try it out yourself to see how those assumptions hold up to reality, now's your chance. Changes listed here are in relation to the current stable build. Summary New Unit: Orbital Factory - builds the more advanced orbital units, plus those built by the orbital launcher. Commanders now store enough energy for 4 Uber cannon shots Weapons with splash damage have had their maximum damage radius dropped significantly. Aircraft speed lowered, except for Bombers and Gunships, which were sped up. Bombers' weapon damage and radius increased. Per the PTE post, if you wish to play a PTE build, you _must_ use the new launcher. Neither Steam nor the old launcher has a concept of our streams.
Downloaded new launcher to try out new PTE build. Got error "Failed to update one or more files. Check log for details." multiple times. Does the same thing with 'VERIFY' button. Attaching log
Ah, gotcha. I'm still not sure I understand the steps here - I've installed the new launcher, but it's still using the old version. Clicking "verify" seems to have downloaded something, but when I went into the game I was still in version 64498. How do you switch between versions?
After logging in, click on your username, then click Build Options... and enable the PTE stream. Then switch streams from the drop down and the left and click Verify.
As far as I see in log it's report problems only with .js, .exe and .dll files. Any chance you have some anti-virus installed that blocking them for some reason?
Just played a match against the AI - might be glitch, but they built a small T1 naval base, massed a bunch of ships, then just sat there the whole game. Made it easy to nuke them (TAKE THAT SORIAN! I WIN!). Anyway, it was a 1v1 one game on a medium-ish earth planet, with a small moon orbiting, if that info helps. The AI basically just got stuck in a pond for some reason. I'll play more AI games and report back if there's any more glitches.
naval was one of the latter (if not the last) branches the AI got a hold of. so probably a bit buggy still.
just tried out some of the changes. will update when i find new things (unless Raevn beats me to it). 1 - GrenaDoxen (as i call them) do indeed have their lobbed projectiles now. it actually seems to give them an edge in "rough" terrain. and fights between two sets of doxen gets...interesting. 2 - the orbital factory can churn out orbitals like its nothing. IMPORTANT EDIT the adv. air fabber requires 108 metal to run. BUT the adv metal extractor only provides 24 metal. therefore, you need 4-5 T2 extractors to run ONE adv air fabber. hmmmmmmm.... mighty expensive builders, ya?
Avast! was a pain during my install, and caused a similar error until I disabled it, so do check this out.
What alternative would you recommend? It seems to do the job adequately - if there is a legitimately better alternative I am extremely open to suggestions (should we take this to PM to avoid a thread derail?)
