    AMBIENT OCCLUSION! YAY!
    WEIRD *** OUTLINES! BOO!

Edit: There are actually weird lighting bugs even with SSAO on.
I'm going to guess it's because I'm lower resolution scaling, there's no other way this could slip by the radar.

Are you using downsampling? E.g lower resolution scale than 100%.

    It was.

    Video: AMD Radeon 7350 HD
I assume you mean the driver name?

If you turn it to 100% is it working fine or not?

Also can you share your other graphics settings?

    Nope, it's still there.
Even if I crank everything to max, the only time the lines aren't there is when I put it to 175%

Try to play with graphics options and check if some of them helps.

It's can be also useful to test it with latest beta drivers from AMD:

Alright, I'll give it a shot and update if it gets better.

Update: I installed the new drivers and the issue persists, even on maxed out settings :(
I guess my video card is just a piece of **** that doesn't know how to render SSAO.

Hey Tehtrekd, try turning off shadows (completely). See if that gets rid of the problem? We think this is a shadowing issue on this setup, not SSAO. (You can leave SSAO on, as that's different from standard shadows)

Actually, SSAO will probably be broken for you too. This is an AMD driver problem. We're investigating how we can fix this.

One more idea. This issue really looks like it's related to problem with anisotropic filtering (non-standard settings caused ). Any chance you applied any non-standard settings in Catalyst Control Center? E.g Catalyst AI?

If yes try to set everything to default or disable all suspicious options here and check game again.

What do you mean as "broken"?
I seen some shadows flickering on zoom, but I can't reproduce problem from OP.

Possible it's because his GPU is VLIW5 while mine is VLIW4.

Sure, these two are from the sandbox AI's I played against for messing around.

I tried turning off shadows in case, and the outlines DID go away.
But they were replaced by this:
    lights2.jpg
The bright side of the commander was the side facing the sun, so if this is normal I guess the problem's fixed, but is it supposed to be that bright?

I usually don't mess with that sort of stuff, and when installing new drivers I always go with what's recommended, so I doubt I changed anything.

For me it's looks exactly the same and without HDR it's not playable at all, but I didn't have problem like in first post.

I was able to reproduce the bug in the office, also on a low end AMD system. Not yet sure how we'll fix it, but basically part of the "fixed shadows" in the latest patch completely fails on some range of AMD graphics cards. The short explanation is it is a bug on AMD's side and one not likely to get fixed soon. It should be easy to work around it for the shadows, a previous iteration of the shadow change would not have the issue so I'll just reimplement that.

However the same bug also presents itself in the SSAO shader, and there it's less trivial to solve. My suggestion to you is to keep SSAO disabled as for now it will basically doing nothing except make your game run slower if your graphics card has the issue.

Which cards may have the issue? I have not yet tried to enable SSAO as I play on min details for max fps, but I noticed the extreme brightness as well and my shadows are disabled. Running a HD 7850. Was too lazy to update my drivers so far though, will try tomorrow. But I don't think I am that out of date anyway.

I have no idea what cards have the problem, apart from "low end AMD". The only AMD gpu in the office that had the issue is a new system we just got recently with a A4-3300 in it. I know for sure it works without an issues on an Radeon HD 7870. I don't know the specific models in the other computers in the office.
