I'd like to add that making a pissing contest thread was not my intention at all. I just find it interesting how different some setups are and how people have such different priorities (compare my 120hz screen to garat(?)s 30'' screen).
I figured. That's why I participated. I feel no need to justify things to strangers on the internet. Having fun comparing and contrasting setups though? That's my speed. It's a good thread, and well timed, since I did my case/mobo/cpu upgrade right before PAX, so it was still fresh in my head.
True, but if I go big I want the extra pixels too, gotta look gooood Some people say 1080P does not look good on anything above 24", especially when sitting relatively close, and I guess I would sit at a similar distance from the screen as you do (based on that picture). Ah well, I don't think I can go wrong with either 27" or 30", either will be quite the visual experience I am sure.
They're both concept art for recent Alt Avatars for Heroes of Newerth, a game lotsa people hate either on principle or due to the community (which is justified, but I still persevere)
UHD, u better have a like 8 gs on ur card. unless u wanna play games on low. Maybe ur talking about 2560x1600.. still it snowballs pretty fast
Plus I always find old rigs to be the most fun, because it becomes a challenge to squeeze every ounce of productivity out of it, despite its age. I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop from 2002 that I still use every day. It was once a gaming laptop, it was used for school and work, it was dropped and cracked and dented, and yet I still have 12 years and running. That is value! (Linux helps, of course.)
Little late to this party. Mouse: G500s Keyboard: Microsoft comfort curve keyboard 2000 (v1.0) :O Monitors: Old Gateway i've had since 2009 Its HD. New Dell S2240L External Hard drive perched on Desktop. Sound: Harmen/Karden sound system. After getting my second monitor, I find it hard to go back to one. Such Freedom More Space Mouse Portal Wow.
2560x1440 for 27" and 2560x1600 for 30" I would say. 4k needs way too much graphics power which costs a lot and the screen itself would also just be too expensive. As you say, even the 1440p and 1600p resolutions need a lot of grunt. I'll probably get a 27" to cut down on costs.
I also personally won't bother with 4K until they actually get HDMI 2.0 and the next display port spec figured out. It's pointless. I don't want a huge resolution monitor that maxes out at 30/60hz refresh. That's stupid. For TV, fine, but for a computer? That kind of refresh looks horrible.
personally i would never pay 100 000 money for a damn screen. It`s just a screen. it` s 100 years old if u guys know what sayin rather pay 3000 money for something new and much cooler but still kinda the same thing. VR. working/playing in vr! MAN that`s soo cool. designeing levels and playing in VR! jesus.
