Yeah you can also see it in one of the games in the clopsey 2 that zaphod recorded. Pretty lame indeed.

I think we should forbidding such behaviour in tournament rules and ban abusing individuals from all community tournaments. This isn't a balance thing, this is a clear systems abuse.

How will you differentiate from the people that just send out a couple of fabbers to build mexes wherever they find them? At the start of the game I occasionally do this so I don't have to worry about expanding too much. If the fabbers die while doing that, then they have doubled as a (non-cheating) scout. Until now, I hadn't even noticed that some of the white building preview thingies were missing.

I used to always assume that was the game failing to find a buildable spot. Happens a lot on some metal spots with terrain crampedness and such, although usually toying with the rotation of the structure fixes it.

I still just think the game should, just for mexes, allow it to be placed on anything, and if there is a reclaimable in the way just reclaim it in the process (enemy mexes are reclaimable), and this would also fix edge-case terrain blocking metal points that still happens occasionally on metal planets.

It's plain super ineffective to use as a means of expansion because the workers will all go the same route.
But yeah that is an issue. Luckly Uber has the bug fixed in their internal build already, so I doubt this will be much of an issue in the future.

True. With a couple of fabbers, I meant two or three fabbers working on the same route. I use some other fabbers to grab the mexes near my base. It's a get-me-some-bonus-metal strategy.

Glad to hear it's fixed internally though.

Oddly, this bug doesn't work for air fabbers, as far as I have experienced

Banning of players who use it - really? That's not fair. It's a bug. It's fixed. Yes, it's an "exploit", but it's an exploit that has to be exploited so Uber will fix it. And until that is in live build, it hasn't been achieved.

idk, in player tournaments, they submit rules to you. Technically, if they don't like you, they can not include you in the tournament for any and no reason. Doing exploits gives them a reason, they just finish the tournament with your opponent finishing the bracket instead and never look back.

but they have to state it ahead of the tournament to make it clear.

I have not banned anyone for it. However if somebody constantly abuses a known exploit it sure is not the nice way to play.

No problem in tournaments. But preventing people from joining the tournament because they have abused the mechanic previously (which could be in friendly matches)?

May I point out that Astraeus insta vanguard drop is, technically, an exploit because of the abuse of the missing landing animations?

While PA is still in development, it may be better to just keep an eye out on the shades of grey

There has been many of this kind of bug since alpha. That's why we had gentleman rules. Air transports insta drop too so it's not apparent what ubers plan is. Same with overshooting turrets.

I have done this by accident in some games and didn't send my cons to that area knowing that there was something there. I think it's hard to rule on this type of play, later in the game, But doing it at the start to find their pos is a pretty big exploit.

Yip, no doubt that it's lame. All I'm saying is, you can't control what people do on public servers during friendly games.. If they breach tournament rules, fine.

Next step would be banning people because they annoyed you on the forums.

The screenshot of an actual case of usage I posted was from a 1v1 automatch that ended up as a rated 1v1 game though.
I do not care at all what people do on random public games, but a 1v1 automatch is not the place to cheat.

Exactly. If he was to pursue his case, he could argue to have that game stricken from the record. It is possible that it really is that frowned upon to score games where cheating occured.

Yup, ranked games and tournaments, no questions asked. Exploit is exploit
