Orbital nukes... Not sure if I'm a fan of that. Orbital antinukes however, they can be pretty usefull as a way to counter attempts to overwhelm surface antinukes.

Also, this post reminded me of kinetic bombardment, which I thought was pretty cool and futuristic, perhaps something that can be implemented somewhere. Basicly super heavy metal rods fired from space with no explosive or nulcear payload, not even a rocket propulsion, just pure kinetic energy, fired from orbit.

There wasn't a point. You took that too literally. But yes, alliance mode is coming.

I wouldn't mind a cheap satellite that you can make from orbital launcher, moves as slow as a standard orbital, and it's attack is a one-time thing where it flies overhead and then comes crashing downward onto the target. Useful only for structure snipes and is still expensive considering it's cost compared to it's one time damage output.

basicly orbital mercies now ... built 3 or 5 of them send avengers to catch anti orbital fire= mercieful commsnipe all over again

Well I would have said "kill anything below instantly" if I meant hitscan.

You know how fast the astraeus descends? Imagine a morning star with orbital control jets on it doing that and killing what it lands on.

So basically, it could kill your com, if you let it. Theoretically, it could kill any structure though. Antinukes. Which is why you would need to keep orbital control over it. Maybe make umbrellas shoot this down, but not air-fighters?

yea not like players in supcom didnt try mercy snipes with opposing aa defenses and aircraft and still succeded ... and no those werent hitscan nor instagib
you needed a minimum of 5 to kill a early commander in one go ... and yes there were also situations were some comms barely escaped the aoe of a mercy ...
still i am against it because i want surface and especialy groundbattles to matter

ya actually that's not a bad idea.

    • ground nukes: can fire on same planet only
    • orbital nukes: can't move but has unlimited range for planet it's on and planets that are in orbit (cannot fire on plants that aren't in orbit).

instead of an orbital nuke launcher they should add a orbital launcher that shoos rods with no pay load. would make the game more interesting.
