Where is your release date information coming from? I haven't seen anything about hard dates like that.

and regardless, what does the box release have to do with patches? think about it, even if there is a patch after the box shipment, the customer will just get the game, launch it, it will patch like normal and boom, no problem.

ah, has Uber actually confirmed that date?

it doesn't make too much difference to me when its release, just as it stands now I think it needs just a little bit more work to be reviewable.

As far as I know, no official release date has been announced, yet.

But since Amazon lists that release date, as well, and the devs seem to try to get PA ready for 1.0, it might end up being the actual release date ;)

When it is done, is usually what they quote. Similar to Kerbal development, they develop it, then it gets done, no promises on timelines, but when they finish work they push a build so players can enjoy.

I forget when work on Supcom started, the exact date and all. It had to be years, literal years, before the release date when a disc hit store shelves. The only difference is, nobody knows when "work on Call of Duty Ghosts started", that game is funded by a publisher and you learn nothing of it until 3 months before launch, and then you still get nothing but showcase features and gameplay footage to only show off the GOOD stuff only.

Imagine, if Uber had the money, they could have developed this game up to this point, what, I forget but think it is almost 2 years later, and also possibly have hired a larger staff? They would have released a "coming soon" trailer maybe a year ago, everyone would have speculated by the devs would have been silent for another year, then they would release a release date with a feature list, then more silence, 3 months before release date they show off highly selective gameplay footage showing good things about game, they might at this time start catering to discussion on the game, push advertizement at the right places that would have the target audience of the game (maybe pay to do a joint thing with EA C&C and/or Blizzard Starcraft2).

Without that kind of money, and if not for kickstarter, the only other option would be not to develop PA. Most of us agree, we would have done most anything, paid any amount, just to get this game to this point. I would have paid installments of $10 a month lol. DONT GET ANY IDEAS UBER! ;)

The BAD thing about that, is that the interested backers we have had wouldn't have been involved, which they gave good feedback and this game has became personal to them. Without that, the game wouldn't have such a dedicated playerbase willing to work on mods and development and such, and even their feedback has been nice, like the commander not being symmetrical was a Forum Suggestion (one hand ubercannon, one hand fabricator), and a lot of unit roles.

So, yes, I still support, good and/or bad, this game has taken the right path, and has done nothing that any other game hasn't had to do in development. The only difference is, the games you love, did the things outside the public eye. You didn't see the struggle in the game development, you just saw a game magically appear fully complete, and even then it was artificially complete, just functional with enough feature, features did get scrapped and even added after release as after-content. People think the after-content was an amazing idea to add to the game, when originally it WAS part of the original game design.

So you know, patience is a virtue, but you can tell video game development is a place patience is short in, there is nothing wrong with that, it just means the participating community is just really really really eager and overhyped. No update in 3 months? Daily post harassing for a patch date. Players just want the patch, my nephew will ask me 5 times a day if I will play videogames with him if I say no because he wants me to and if he keeps asking he can pressure me. There is no harm in desire as long as you recognize the desire and contain it to healthy actions.

Just out of sheer curiosity, why ARE you guys going for a retail release?
I mean, there aren't very many people who buy retail copies of PC games anymore.

My sentiments exactly. However, the ones that won't buy it digitally, will buy it physically. Also, the people who don't get online and search for information on PA and PA information doesn't fall into their lap, seeing a physical copy on the shelf and reading the back is a good form of advertizement. So it is alright, and should pay for itself in the end.

Also, back to OP, the information flow has been quiet during Pax, but the silence has just been burned to ashes.

Meh it's simply a gimmick from Uber to keep us quiet for a bit. Brad was like crap we need to throw them a bone. So give us a still of something that is due in the future.

I think you mean the fire thread, right? Yes of course they're just giving us that because people noticed they were quiet. It still doesn't hurt to see proof of work being done and get excited about upcoming changes.

Yeah, well sadly forum people specifically ask, no, DEMAND, for some information right friggin now.

    Then they post something.

Now forum people claim they are just giving into pressure and posting information as a gimmick?

They gave you at least something, you asked for something, they fulfilled the requirements, be grateful?

Yeah, we tend to be overeager. We are like the automated toilet that flushes mid-use. We design tournaments around an unfinished game. The eagerness is appreciated, but it's not done yet.

But there are still people who do or find it the most convenient for them.

That being said, retail wasn't initially intended, but via pre-orders and Early Access it became possible to do so, Uber is working with Nordic to handle the Retail Logistics for them.

Not to mention that Uber still needs to do most of the related design work for the Backers getting physical boxes anyways.

I never asked for anything. I pretty much said what you did but in a less PC way as usual. A few trees on fire does nothing for me. Sorry for not falling to my knees.
