What are your opinions on the pony fanbase

Pretty much as the title says, I ask out of curiosity, what are your opinions on the pony fanbase (or bronies, if you must)?
If you don't know yet, basically it's a fanbase around the show My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, comprised mostly of teen to adult men.

Now, I know that this is a less than stable subject here on teh interwebs, so I request you be at least somewhat civil, you can voice your opinions on what other's think and all but just don't be a douche about it.

I'll start with what I think.

I mostly treat it the same way I treat stoners, which is to say the majority of them are absolutely abhorrent, and the rest are alright at best.
The majority being the guys that have to be extremely out about it, constantly trying to get their friends on it and bringing it up at every opportunity, and the rest being the guys that bring it up occasionally/close to never, not being overly recommendational (that should totally be a word by the way) about it, etc.

(Are these "opinion on X" threads getting old yet? Sorry about that.)

I'd say it's something where the vocal minority ruin it for a passive majority. You won't hear about the actual kids fanbase, or the older fans who aren't weird and creepy about it, but a bunch of people will make it seem abhorrent.

Actually yeah, that is a good point, I always end up forgetting that vocal minority doesn't always equal general majority...

Whatever floats your boat. I personally think it's a bit weird but I don't judge.

I don't get it. I just don't.

It's weird especially for grown men but I don't give a ****. The only bad thing about them is that they have the huge group of haters following them around with their pointless spam.

They pretend to enjoy it just to look cool or show gap moe, if that makes sense.

I have a couple of friends like that.

"I enjoy this Pony cartoon. I are so cool."

They do whatever they want. No one have a say to what some should and shouldn't like and do.

They shouldn't be able to do it. Liking horses should be illegal.

To the credit of the bronies, they do make good music on occasion.

I have never given the show a chance and probably never will but even if I did I could never see myself enjoying a show geared towards children. I have a little sister who used to watch shows like Dora and **** and I just cannot imagine a grown man being like - this **** is amazing. Unless there is something different about the show that seperates it from other childrens cartoons, I think its pretty weird. But of course, as long as the people who enjoy the show aren't bothering anyone else who gives a **** lol.

Btw, I wouldn't call myself a brony, I watch Spongebob for instance, and I watch that show more, but I think I like MLP when it comes on more.

I have refrained from any MLP decorations or anything like that. Not saying I didn't consider a MLP bobblehead or plush on the dash area of my motor scooter (it is a schwinn valo 150, white, not girly at all, shaddup).

I personally don't mind it, it is like any wierdly dedicated internet phenomena. Slenderman anyone?

Sadly, you can't say bronies are terrible, they have some of the most skillful artistic talent in the internet community, the best MLP episode I ever watched was fanmade and looked as good in setting theme storyline and canon-following as the actual show but was 10 times better.

Oh, here it is, Double Rainboom, if you actually do casually watch MLP:FIM or even accept the concept of watching it or Powerpuff Girls, then it actually is pretty interesting. No friggin gurly musicals, promise.

I was refering to a completely canon, full length, well made, fan-creation episode, Double Rainboom.

The sad thing is, everyone jumps to this arguement, yet between deviantart and other sites, I see more examples for Scooby Doo, Futurama, Pokemon, DBZ, Furry Art and anything animated pretty much, than I do MLP.

So that arguement doesn't work there, the concentration of sickos in the brony fanbase is much less than in the anime fanbase in general obviously.

Started watching that fan vid, the animation is good aye, but the dialogue pacing seems just pretty slow.

I don't watch the show, but I am in LOVE with the MLP:CCG a collectible card game based off the MLP franchise. I joked with my bf to get it for my birthday and he delivered. We played a round with the Starter packs and now I'm HOOKED!

The game mechanics are similar to MtG, but with a little less rules. I've got a Fluttershy/Applejack deck, but I may start looking at making it a Fluttershy/Rarity deck since I battled the Ultimate Brony at an Emerald City Comicon tournament and got my ponybutt handed to me. It's hilarious because the ponies don't fight each other, they come together to solve problems and win points by solving the problems before your opponent.

I admit, most of the people at the tournament were 15-25 year old guys. But - it was fun. I still felt awkward there, being a grown adult woman, but whatevs. We all had fun and in the end, that's all that matters.

Here's a pic of the layout of the game from some Starter decks. And a pic from my winnings from the tourney I went to. I came in 3rd out of 10 I don't know what to do with this MLP lunchbox, so I just put my pony cards in there for storage. If anyone ever has questions about how to play, hit me up!

I don't really consider myself a stoner, but I know plenty of them and they're all just relaxed and hilarious people who are almost always fun to be with, regardless if they're sober or not.

There's an actual game behind the cards?
I thought they were just things to be collected.

He keeps trying to pass to me. I am Buddhist, I don't mind smoking or not and won't do it out of habit anyway, I see no point in addiction, all things in moderation, what is the reason to do something against your own will just because you think you have to?

Nonetheless, I turn it down, and the next one he lights, he holds it out my way anyway. Claims he is trying to be polite. One time, I just took it, put it out, and put it across my reach away from him, making him get up to go get it. He stopped doing it for a while after that.

Just as another example, I don't smoke cigarettes either, but if dating someone who does smoke, I might make one courtesy moment where I'll accept one if offered just for the connection but will not make habit out of that. One day recently, my brother was barbequeing, was windy outside, handed me his cigarette, it was going out. I started smoking it a bit to keep it lit. He said he knew I smoked behind everyone's back. I said I am 23, how childish would that be, no I do not smoke but I have no problem breathing through this tube to keep the end lit, that is all it is to me, I can puff on this now and think nothing of it, that is who I am, it doesn't have to be a lifelong habit after one friggin puff. No biggie.

Good guy, which is why I spend so much time with him. He just doesn't get the seperation of interest in it. He keeps soliciting, I keep declining. If a brony walked up to you, kept trying to solicit that crud to you, against your strong will against it, would you be rather annoyed?

Then again, I am that way with games I play. Strongly try to show my friends, they shrug me off but I am persistent lol. On that note EVERYONE PLAY RENX CHECK SIG! *is banned for spam advertizement*
