:D ........and I think if trees are in the way that is part of the simulation.

Well, if trees become reclaimable, it means there is some metal in them  They should block shots!

I don't think trees should entirely block shots, they should negate damage. I know most ammunition is reactive, in that upon hitting a target it will expend all its energy (usually in a directed explosion), but it would be a bit lame if your big lumbering Leveler had its gigantic shells (which are entirely capable of vaporizing an Ant - a hyper-advanced robotic supertank lore-wise) had its massive payload stopped by a measly tree. If anything, the concussion of the exploding shells would knock down more trees for a few hundred meters, considering how powerful these things are supposed to be.

Actually, all shots should deform terrain if you think about it. Terrain OP, nerf nerf.

But seriously now, if you guys want full simulation on trees, they would have to reduce the damage of shots in trade for having the tree shredded. Each tree couldn't entirely block a single shot. It would make bots even more OP than they are now.

What if balistic shells & lazar go through the trees and mortar go over of course
Energy balls and missiles stop on first impact and explode

So some units better fighting in trees then others adding a little bit more depth in chosing your battle ground based on tress or not.

Trees don't really offer any protection from penetrating rounds from a tank cannon, they obscure line of sight, a little, but thats about it.

big units with big gun VS tiny tree...poor forest
i don't think they should block bullets, mountains are enough

Didn't forest fires damage units in TA?
I think I remember killing Pewees with forest fires.

If the forests have forest fire and that the trees are destructible, yes. One shot on a tree will start a forest fire so this will make sure the threes slowly disappear and the blocking effect will not always be an issue. Here a tactic could be to let forest burn in a certain way so you have some defences because of the threes ;)

I'm of the opinion that trees should also change the movement of units that move through it, tanks should move more slowly, and perhaps push over trees they run into, bots should not have a movement penalty. Tanks can make roads of pushed-over trees, and an army will prefer moving along those paths, if possible.

    Just an idea!
