So I have a new(er) PC. i7 960 3.4Ghz quad core. 24GB ram ATI Radeon 5870 Windows 7 64bit I installed both the steam version of PA and the Uber client version... And I can navigate the menus just fine, but whenever I go to load into a game it gets to the "generating planets" message, and then I get "PA.exe has stopped working" I have updated my graphics drivers to most recent.. And after about a hour on google...it looks like it could be a 100 different things, so could someone lend me a hand and help me look for a solution? Thanks!
welcome to forums, there are numerous thread about this subject. you should have done a search. if you are new to PA, i recommend for to take a look at brain's FAQ and Knights confirm feature list 2.0 link: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/confirmed-features-list-2-0.44950/page-12#post-901561
if you don't know how to upload your dxdiag here is how: (thank you to @SXX for having this as his signature so that I may grab it yet another time)
Thanks for the replies! I actually did search.. but it appears (like i said in the OP) that there are many many different problems that can contribute to this error. So I figured posting my own topic would be the best way to handle this. Here is my dxdiag (thanks for the instructions on how to do that)
I would definitely reinstall and verify pa,aswell as update video drivers manually. From what I know generating planets should not not really even show up as all generating is done in the lobby.
Thanks for the reply. I installed once via steam, and once via the Uber client.. so i don't think its a install issue. And I had the Uber client go back and "verify" my files.. and it said they are all good to go. As for updating the graphics drivers, I tried to do it automaticly from my control panel. And then for kicks I downloaded ATI's catalyst controller, and even that said I was up to date. Any other suggestions?
Just for kicks, I used steam to "verify integrity" of my game cache, and that checks out "ok" And I also saw the notes of people saying to "uncheck" the "steam overlay" option. which I did. No difference. :/
@dewmd66 you need to update your ati drivers to the newest ones from this year... your video card driver is from last year and is too old... (12/6/2013) http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows 7 - 64 try the 14.3 beta drivers , it should fix your issue
Can you try to link your UberNet and Steam account (LINK) and then download non-Steam version from here? https://store.uberent.com/Download/Install?titleId=4
Yep missed this post. Then I suppose if drivers update won't help if worth to run non-Steam version again and upload log and crash dump of game. Here is how-to for doing this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/648814845443326834/
@dewmd66 Side note,, The catalyst update software and updating through control panel will only update your drivers as far as the latest non-beta driver (13.12) the game really does need the most up to date beta driver (14.3) for ATI based cards..
