Great work improving the planet smashing animation, it's definitely getting there!! The orbital bit needs a bit of work - the planet with the halleys often makes a sudden jump in its orbit to hit the right part of the planet. Great progress though, well done!
Improving the planet smashing animation...? They were improved? Hang on, I gotta see this. [ONE PLANET SMASH LATER] Uh, I don't know, looks the same to me.
Yeah its looked like that for a while, but you only get to see it if theres no lag, otherwise the smaller planet just disappears.
Now i want all doomsday arsenal from galactic stage of Spore. If only they let modding for it like we will get for PA.
Still waiting on the whole "planetary annihilation" animation as seen in the original kickstarter video. The current one seems like a small fart in comparison.
I tend to agree. =/ Actually, I've noticed that some of the 'detonate' animations will fail kind of frequently when the game has a lot going on. It kind of makes me avoid matches with a lot of players - unsatisfying to see things just disappear. Hope some of the upcoming graphical fixes help...
at times the "Earthy debris" doesn't appear, it's a known bug. but using chrono cam and replaying the explosion will show it.
What was so bad about spore.. EA made it so easy to play a 2 year old could conquer the galaxy.. The RTS part of the game was so awesome i won with only 3 tanks.. And who doesn't love clicking endlessly for hours on end exploring a massive yet pretty empty/dull but graphically beautiful galaxy.... Best bit of playing spore for me was pressing "Alt-F4" as it seemed to bring the most satisfaction during game play
Yeah but... It looked so good. Yeah, the RTS parts were almost insultingly easy and the space part was boring as hell, but... It looked SO good. Also the creature stage was pretty fun, if for nothing else, the exploration aspect.
Spore needs some hack and scripting language like lua to automate exploration and maintaining those thousdands of worlds. Then it needs multiplayer where you run your scripts against other scripts.
Spore was genius, a game where a lot of the appeal was around designing your creatures, which then had a second half where you never saw them.
