They have different cannons.
The Delta has the laser cannon, Invictus has the Uber Cannon.

I hope they make them look different in game soon , would be really cool.

So this is actually .....not really "wrong" or anything like that, but it sure doesn't feel right.

Yeah it's something really strange, I feel happy for a new commander but can't help but to think what players who were here earlier than me in alpha feel :/. Maybe a little more difference in the two would help or maybe in later game the uber and laser cannon may perform slightly differently.

What, not a fan of the raised wings on the Delta?

No, I just don't like the mind set behind the "solution" here. It feels like it's the embodiment of a "short cut" if I've ever saw one.

Yay, glad to get that commander back! He's the coolest.

I'm sure more changes are coming to these commanders to differentiate the two. But not HUGE ones.

I'm not so confident right now. The reasoning is easily seen when you look at the circumstances involved. Uber liked the Delta and used it a lot in consumer-facing media, the problem is that the Delta's limited release makes it awkward for that role. In that instance they can't change them too much because they need to look like what they reference;

The Invictus needs to look like the Delta to match all the existing media and the Delta needs to look like the Delta to still be the "promised" Delta.

If it was my call, I'd have done something along the lines of;

"You know what guys, we really like the Delta, it was our first "complete" commander after all! So we're going to make it available to everyone and we'll work with the community to design a New Commander to the backers who were originally going to receive the Delta!"

It corrects the "mistake" and makes 2 "pro-community" decisions/statements at overall low cost(1 Custom Commander essentially), not as low cost as they've currently done(Copy+Paste) but I feel the worth is much higher overall.
