Just a question to something i have not seen the answer to. If i purchased PA through steam but was interested in buying the upgrade to cosmic, it appears i could only do it if i bought PA originally through the uber store. Any plans on letting steam users upgrade?

Not until PA releases and ditches the early access label. Valve arbitrarily doesn't allow multiple packages for early access games. Or so I've heard.

I guess the next question would be, would Cosmic still be around after official release? I guess if not, i will have to see if i want to spend another 200 + the steam version i already have. Thanks for the response.

I doubt upgrade to Cosmic edition it technically possible on Steam because of regional pricing and sales. Uber can't set different upgrade price for different Steam users and it's would be unfair to sell Cosmic cheaper than other players who paid on Uber store.

Also keep in mind Valve get big cut from your payment so if you actually want to support developers it's always good idea to buy it directly. ;)

As long as I understand Delta commander will be tied to your UberNet account so I suppose you can buy Cosmic edition for Delta commander, but then gift game key to friend for example. To be completely sure you can clarify that at Uber support:

It's will be good idea to ask support because there was some changes related to how Armory works and possible my information is not correct anymore.

What do you mean by this? Many games on steam have different packages available. For instance Magicka: Wizard Wars is currently in Alpha and there are three different packages available , each with it's own unique in-game content. In my opinion, it was a mistake for Uber not to do the same with PA (on Steam). It would have avoided the pain of all of the Steam customers thinking they were getting exclusive commanders for the Cosmic Edition ($90) (If I remember the tiers correctly) and then realizing that they should have bought through Uber months later. Even though it's only a digital commander, I don't think it was the best marketing decision for Uber.

Sure Steam takes a cut from sales of the game, but it's generally assumed to be far less than hard-copy publishers since Steam doesn't have to take a risk on manufacturing physical goods. In either case, you won't find numbers due to NDA. Steam members did pay the same amount as users who bought the game on the Uber store, but received less content. I don't think you really have to worry about being fair to the kickstarters... The other benefit from Steam is awareness. Sure you might have some hardcore RTS fans who followed the kickstarter or found the game, but Steam acts as a huge marketing tool for developers and can reach a much wider range of gamers. In other words, if Steam was not profitable for developers, they wouldn't use it. In the end, it benefits Uber to be on Steam and reward Steam customers.

I started with Galactic on Uber, then bought a separate steam key (both using the same e-mail account) AFTER buying the extra steam key I bought the cosmic 'upgrade' on the uber store and it works on my steam. I also found that when I loaded up on steam my uber account automatically took on my current steam display name until I went back into my uber account and reset it to WPMarshall [Caster]
    Does this help at all?

Don't think so. Actually you now have two license "keys". :)

I suppose if you convert your Uber store key to Steam and gift it to anybody you'll still have access to your commander. At least It's how I think it's works, but I'll ask Michelle to clarify this.

Ooof, this makes my head spin :p Well, the key from Galactic turned into a Cosmic key when you upgraded. It had already been activated so no "extra key" there, just a change in name. But you also bought a copy from Steam, that's like having another key (though no key will show on your account.)
If you wanted, you could create a new UberNet account and link the Steam account you purchased it on. This equals one key. Then, create a new Steam account to link to your current UberNet account to use the Cosmic key and Commander goodies. And that would make use of your 2 "keys" :D

Or you can just go back in time and buy it all through the Uber store which would make life much easier.

I didn't mean extra key, but what happen if @wpmarshall convert his Uber store key to Steam and give this key to other person? Will he keep his Delta when running game though Steam where he have other license activated already?

So I'm asked @mkrater for details and here is how situation looks like:
If you already own game on Steam and buy Cosmic Digital on Uber store then Delta commander will be tied to your UberNet account. It's mean you can convert 2nd game license to Steam key and gift it to somebody while you'll continue to play using your Steam license.

And even if you "activate" your Uber store key for some reason you still able to convert it to Steam and gift. So you not actually lose something when buy Cosmic because 2nd key can be used by your friend. ;)

Correct, your Commanders are tied to your UberNet account so if a purchase like Cosmic Edition was made after purchasing the game on Steam, you could give away the key from the Cosmic purchase and still have access to play the Commanders from it using your Steam account. If for some reason this doesn't happen, please submit a request to Support http://support.uberent.com/ or email support@uberent.com

Ooof, this still makes my head spin :p
