lava planets needs some serious work

    the lava is like.....well....Paint

it looks bad and feels bad.......

would be nice to get some animated lava like the water with a litle extra...

also if we look at the concept art ( thats perfect )

il hope it wont go live like that its a realy letdown......

do we have any info about lava planets ??

I think cliffs are being looked into, if not now some time in the foreseeable future, which could bring them closer to the concept art.
I think vehicles now have some animated textures, but I doubt animated textures can be applied to the terrain directly, so the only way I could see that happening would be if lava planets had a 'water' layer. I'm not sure if that would help or not, maybe, who knows.

You have to bear in mine the viscosity of lava isn't like water, especially if it were a sea of lava. Although I don't really remember what the lava looked like, but I'm sure they'll get round to it after finishing the important things.

Yeah... Lava planets have had some new assets added to them recently I think. But the actual lava itself looks ugly as hell, and I dislike playing with lava planets and metal planets (not because those are ugly too, but I remember that the path acting on them was horrible. Might have changed in the meantime, I don't know :p)

    That's entirely dependant on temperature.

Most pathfinding issues have been fixed, metal planets are some serious fun. But they always feel the same sadly...

The lava is ugly. Animation and glowiness needed! Apart from that, lava planets are fine to play on.

They are really not bad right now, have you seen them before??? Holy crap that was crap, now they're okay, but yeah they should work on them in the next time, but shouldn't be a high priority.

I kinda disagree that the lava is that much of an issue, I think the 'dark' ground of lava planets is their weakest point. Right now there's a long stretch of ground without any brushes that spans from the edge of lava to the lighter ground where there are brushes. If you want any lava you're going to have quite a bit of flat, featureless terrain.

I also find that the color palate of lava planets is rather dull. It's a brown-red planet with a brown-red atmosphere. I think a darker & less saturated "ash" ground color would look very cool.

It needs lots of lava like things, like spires of rock and lava flows. And the terrain lovingness that the desert biome recently received.

It would also be nice if the lava actually glowed, and illuminated night side planets.

Well I didn't say it was an issue, the lava itself needs work. The ground, meh. I don't like it that much either. The lava also needs cliffs and spires in it, to make it appear less flat. The lava planet needs more biomes.
