I am just curious as to whether or not anyone uses the combat fabrication units.

If so, how do you use them?

I like the idea of the combat fabrication units but I'm not quite sure how I would implement them into my playstyle. I haven't used much of the mines, but it seems difficult to utilize them effectively. The only use I can think of is to use them to build combat structures so other fabs can focus on other tasks or to heal during combat.

What is your take on the combat fabrication units?

I haven't seen much of them used, which is a bummer. They can be very helpful when assisting advanced units. Vanguard with combat fabbers? Deadly combo.

They're pretty pointless with basic units though.

They're easy to use though since they automatically heal units.

With how quickly most T1 units die, T1 combat fabs don't really seem to be effective at much except for mine laying; T2 fabs supporting T2 though can be mean. I'd say they probably still need to be a bit cheaper for people to really start incorporating them into their strategies regularly (same with mines, although I know their cost went down a lot recently, not sure how much).

I used to use them when having Bots was the most effective strategy, just because they would auto-heal your army and keep it alive for longer. I really liked them in that case. I don't really use them now, except sometimes I have some advanced combat fabbers along with my tanks, but that's it.

I'm not sure how mines are supposed to work anyway since last time I tried to use them they were shot before anything got near them.

I've gotten in the habit of including 1 combat fab in my approx 30-40 unit continuous build queue. Same thing for skitters, so the group can benefit from the increased visibility.

I like to station them around my bases so they will auto repair anything that gets damaged.

Theyre ridiculously expensive. If you have 2 near your damaged com - bye bye eco.

I just use them (the Advance ones anyway) to build endgame structures such as Hally's or nukes really fast or get my entire group of nuke to finish build faster. However I usually suck at managing my Eco at end game so I have a lot of surplus metal and energy to be able to take advantage of them (the bots) when I have an entire planet under my control.

I think mines can only be shot at if you have radar.

They are very expensive, but are one of the best siege units out there.

I used to mix some into my bots, but then I'd give an area-attack command and they would just stand there instead of supporting the combat units.

I've started using them recently mixed in with my tanks, incredibly helpful! I have quite a lot of them mixed in which makes an advance impenetrable. Really wish that I had utilised them sooner as i had a game that lasted 3 hours stalemate, and i just kept sending my bots and tanks to the slaughter.

Didn't use them much either, but if you are walled in with a small opening to let your own army through, you can use them to mine the gap. Chances are the enemy won't wait to destroy the walls and simply send his army through.

T1 combat gabbers should have an area heal instead I guess. That would make them worthwhile.

I use them to assist in all of my building. For example I will assign groups of them to assist a t2 fab building energy or on a t2 factory building tanks. I assumed they built faster than a regular fab unit. Am I wrong about this?
