Attacking people is wrong its self, weather they don't have a valid point or not.

As most people tend to decide whether a point is valid to their own view, and then attack them based on that.

Discussing their points is more then fine, it's encouraged.

But creating posts based on a kind of negative air or che is just delusional, especially when only the initial post of a supposed thread is close to being negative, and the rest of them are discussing that, or just attacking the person for that view.

The only negativity in the air is the people attacking each other, not posts that disagree with your viewpoint.

So this thread is entirely pointless, and a huge circle jerk that people feel the need to actually gather and reaffirm their own opinions because they saw ONE person who didn't agree.

    Agreed.

Not so sure I agree that people trying to counter negativity with positivity (in a non aggressive manner) is such a harmful thing to have in a forum. I think we just have different opinions there, so let's just move on :)

Inflationary unfounded praise sort of devalues the occasions where it is duly given but that is just my opinion, too.

I'm not sure whether you used the word "weather" correctly or not. Whether or not you correctly used the word "weather", I agree with you, just like the rainy weather outside agrees with me.

Whether or not you notice the weather is irrelevant to the doings of said weather.

Controversy generating doom mongering sort of devalues the occasions where criticism is duly given, but that is just my opinion too.

How do you know the praise is unfounded if people's subjective opinion's on the game are involved? Someone out there really liked the game, wanted to post a positive thread to voice such an opinion. Didn't use speculation, formed the opinion from playing the game. Playing the game and not liking it should ALSO be allowed, but that doesn't mean you can start predicting things that haven't happened as if they are fact. That is what grates me. I am equally guilty of being overly optimistic, but there ya go :p

The weather is cloudy, so it may rain. Whether or not the weather becomes rainy depends on whether the weather feels like it because this is Melbourne and the weather does whatever it wants.

The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plains.

Also, it's sunny in England right now. O.M.G.

Thanks for the post Carlorizzante- I'd say this post is perhaps a bit more measured than your previous thread. As you say the game is good to play and I'm glad you're prepared to reserve judgement. I personally think Uber will surprise you :) Admittedly I think the 1.0 launch features are going to be scaled down a bit in exchange for getting more of the core stuff right however I think Uber will stick to their word and continue work after release so I'm happy with that.

Edit: Personally probably played about 30 hours (very hard to find time for any games these days!) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The game is really coming together nicely now and I don't really have any concerns about the direction Uber is taking. I personally think in terms of 'success' the game will be as successful as it needs to be. I very much doubt it's going to be a contender for #1 in the sales charts as it's a PC only release and RTS isn't the biggest of genre's these days but I think it will be more than successful enough to support Uber and hopefully allow this awesome dev team to work on some new projects (whilst also continuing support on PA of course!).

    Touché.
I should have elaborated on what I consider 'unfounded praise' so that point goes to you. Unfounded to me are all those comments praising PA for its potential future merits - the 'PA is awesome because it will be awesome' line of thought, if you will. I stand by my opinion of PA being an immense technical feat, though, and a truthful yet underwhelmingly mechanically conservative gameplay.

edit: Good lord, quoting is hard with the forum second guessing you and remembering half-finished posts.

So I didn't get an alert when you did quote me. And now I did get an alert when you didn't quote me.

Do you know what you're doing?

Do not fret over your waning sanity - for with great madness does great power come! Either that or I blasphemed against the machine spirit of the forum server.
