the lore of PA? meh. Although I thought I was a minority in my indifference. Interesting poll & results!

I'm just chiming in to inform you all that Asimov is THE MAN. period. /thread

Seriously, read his Foundation series. Seriously. He planted the seed that grew into what we know as science fiction. Amoung many others, Lucas and Roddenberry "borrowed" many of their ideas from Asimov. A harsher person might use the word "stole" but Asimov was too smart to be that petty. He was all about the greater good and was humble enough to appreciate the contributions he was able to make inspiring others.

Asimov was a great, prolific writer besides. I forget the exact numbers, but I think he holds a record for being a singular author having works in nearly all categories, or something like that. I especially like his "Asimov on Numbers" book, but there are so many.

Read the Foundation series. It'll blow your mind to see the parallels in Star Wars and Star Trek (and other scifi works) and then realize that it predates them all. But aside from that, it's a fantastic read. (And for the love of God, don't wait for the rumored Foundation movie. There is no way on God's green earth it will do any justice to the books, even if it turns into a massive LOTR-like trilogy).

    Seriously, read it.

I prefer Arthur C. Clarke, his stories are more diverse. But Asimov is definitely in my top 5.

Yes! I no longer stand alone in my opinion that the 4th faction is agreeable xD also in my book, almost all philosophers are cool.

The factions are definitely not the best, that mankind had ever seen, but what can we do? *shrugs*
They are most likely there to stay. But, who does it bother? It's not like there are too many who read them, or even aware of their existence. They are hidden there among countless of posts, far away from the eyes of everyone, and the few who happens to read it, just simply doesn't like it.

Whoever made up those stories, I kind of feel sorry for him, as they don't seem to be very much welcomed by the community as a whole.

As for the religious faction debate... well, yes, it might sound a little strange for an extremely advanced artificial intelligence to worship some sort of imaginary deity, but if we think about it...
What if they were programmed to worship that guy, back in the days when they were first created? What if The Founder is not an imaginary thing, but a real thing in their universe, that gives them orders from the background? So many possibilities!

Well, that was just me, rolling in-and-out.

A welcome taught in my opinion. How about religous people hyjacking commanders for their riligious purposes, explaining the postwar scenario?

Would have been nice if you put more context about the factions, a link to the Uber Topic on each, or something, in the post.

    I like the Enlightened myself.

    EDIT: Oh, you did...

There is only one true faction.

All hail the Progenitor! The maker of all other Commanders!

He alone forged them from the metals of the worlds. He alone activated them and brought them hence. He is the one and true Original!

    Hallow is the Progenitor!

uhm. your saying it as if prognitor is a commander... I'm sorry but I think "Prognitors" are actually what the commanders call humans. thats what the second faction blurb is implying anyways. as they are made by god, and then left god. Then they built robots who then killed the prognitors for abandoning god? Those storys are really easy to misread XD i had to read 2 times bevore i knew what prognitors were, and another 1 to understand he was hunting them to kill them instead of praising them :p

No, the Progenitor is actually a Com. He is the father of all Coms.
    From Kickstarter $50+
There is only ONE Progenitor and hallow is his NAME!

I bet in a piece of my best cheese, that you'd never read the short stories we know as "lore".

Probably because they've kept a lot of stuff quiet. I'm sure when more information comes out there will be more interest.

I have and they speak to one thing. Men were of weak flesh, so they built THE PROGENITOR. He became and all began.

The Progenitor is what all was to be. Nothing is greater than he!
