I recently bought a carrera mountain bike for leisure riding and like most people i live in a area were there are loads of evil bike thieving scumbags about. and i worry about it getting stolen so i already got some chain locks but I happened to have old magma mountain bike that i have had for over 10 years.. The thing is almost unrideable as its transmission locks up as soon as you attempt to change gear due to rust and it wobbles if you go fast on it having tested this before doing what i did earlier today after work. So suffice to say it's a death trap... I put the bike in the back of my car and parked in the public car park in the town center. I then took it to a bike rack were there has been loads of bike thefts and hooked it up to the rack using a rubbish cable lock that thieves can cut using scissors given enough time let alone a bolt cutter. and then left it.. My aim is to ATLEAST hurt the bike thief as a lesson not to steal bikes and be scared from doing so in the future when ever he trys to make away at get away speed (bike can not go that fast due to rust). Or maybe even.. yep you got it : \ am i normal? or just plain evil and mad?? p.s I sanded some of the rust off before transporting it to make it look a bit more new.. see what i did there
Can a mod move this to the Unrelated Discussion forum? Bike thieves often immediately sell the bike to a pawn shop or used bike shop. It is just as likely that some unsuspecting kid will get that bike. Don't worry too much though; they will probably just fix it before trying to sell it.
Immoral? Maybe to some. Sneaky? Hells yes. Illegal? Considering this was thought out in advance, it is inexcusably deliberate.
Several years back we had a case where a cottage owner rigged the door with a shaped explosive that literally tore off the burglar's leg. Kind of extreme case. As long as the damage to the thief is intentional then by our Czech law its indeed a criminal offense. However I do completely understand why you would do such a thing. We say: 1.) What's not locked gets stolen 2.) What's locked gets stolen with what its locked in 3.) And if its melded to another thing then the whole thing gets stolen EDIT: Added my personal view
Look on the bright side, in an infinite amount of universes you're fine! But... In another set you get hit by a tractor that fell out of an airplane and in another set you have food poisoning and get attacked by mutant strawberries from outer space. Then you get hit by a tractor again.
