Hello ^^ low fps kill me...... sniff ! Could you add a blue sky on a low altitude planets and the current in orbital background ? When you play on a rotating planet and that can be seen in the sky, is considerably lower the fps and very quickly when you manage a big armed, it no more follow. there is a blue sky added a predefined load with one sopt of light for not use the ram excessively and pc have just to display unit, it would win fluidity, orbital view the 3d model are replace with icons any way.
take a look at this : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MzD6vZLe-6COIWiIW-DmKsVd5mONE415OGPwhx9AD34/edit settings section, tell me if it helps.
Here's some info on improving your framerate. https://forums.uberent.com/threads/how-to-improve-performance-all-video-cards-driver-links.53165/
I dont get this problem anymore since i got a new desktop but I can definitely safely say that the OP is correct about that. When fighting on another planet and I zoomed out and just happened to see a 2nd planet orbiting in the background it would just absolutely TANK the FPS completely untill it was off-screen. There really isn't anything in the current games options/settings/performance that does anything to help this particular issue on lower end machines. This would always happen in the system creator as well, so amount of units rendered ect.. was zero so that wasn't affecting this issue, no sure what it was. Like I said I personally don't get this issue now I have enough power on my new rig to where this isn't an issue anymore but could be looked into. I did notice on the mega performance patch month or so ago this was improved dramatically though.
There are a couple of interesting options here, one of which we may find in the “UI” tab, “Show Terrestrial” which as you can see by default is on “always” setting it to “range dependent” will provide your graphic card with a lot of overhead and lowers the graphic memory usage. Here’s a planet in combat seen from afar with render units on “always” and here’s the same scene with that option on “range dependant”. as you can see this time we only see the planet. very awesome indeed.....
tatsujb, i down the descktop resolution, a little better but i play allready in low and i already all disabled (proc 4 core 3.5 and gforce 560 ti and 4 giga and not enough for pa sniff !) , my driver is good too, i have 4 giga ram i can play suprem commander forged alliance with a very very large army and ia too, on very very large map, but planetary anihilation no way to do the same, management and display of planet is too heavy, play on 1 or 2 planets of 400 system was only for fast play. then that why i ask for a blue sky, with no moving sky and planets (can be only icones when we don t see it) to display when it display 3d models, i think it will help.
Over clock your cpu. Also Google how to unpark your cpu cores. I would also upgrade to 8gb but make sure you have a 64bit OS or there is no point. Update Gpu drivers to the latest version.
no i will not overclock my cpu, wtf, forged alliance is otherwise heavier and I have not that kind of problem, planetary anihilation still in gamma, i will wait. (add functionality and solve bugs is only an alpha but...) i must replace my motherboard for that, i will wait... already do, did you read my last post ? then my drivers is all ok, i did all in same time. thanks for your help
What is your cpu? And why will you not over clock it? You only need a good cpu cooler to overclock your cpu. My 2600k has been OC@ 4.5ghz for nearly 3 years. Have you unpark your cpu cores? Check in: task manager - resource monitor - cpu tab, on the right hand graph it will say cores are parked. Google how to unpark.
I have the same graphic card as you but 16 Giga of RAM and a 12 core cpu. I think that's what's helping me out here. but did you try turning resolution scaling down? and running the game through PA launcher which works even for steam versions : https://store.uberent.com/download/PA_Setup.exe comparing the two will get you nowhere. One is the most CPU heavy game out there, the other the most GPU and RAM heavy game out there. You PC has most of it's weight on it's CPU leg, and it's GPU and RAM, barely any at all. 4 gigs or ram is the minimum requirement for PA. Minimum does not translate to sufficient. I'm willing to bet that the official requirements for PA, when they finally come out will up the current "minimum" by a huge margin. You should definitely think about upgrading.
12 cores?! Dayum. I think this game is pretty RAM heavy; my friend has integrated AMD graphics, but 8GB of RAM and he runs the game fine.
ye that's why I said huge margin. twice as much is alot. And 4gigs is more than enough for everything other than pa. I think 6 gig could be fine but with 8 you're safe. but for planets of 3000 radius I use up my whole 16 gigs. the planet I made that was 6000 used around 70gigs which was only achievable thanks to virtual ram.
The suggestion was not to render anything but the planet you are currently looking at. Ehich would increase performance.
why would it? the skybox is a flat image of a couple megs at best, with no distortion or any processing whatsoever. what could it possibly consume? the wording suggests there would be no noticeable difference with which I agree.
