SO I've been playing a couple of games to try and test the new planet moving system and every time the server crashed (every unit and structure froze, but I could still look around or return to the main menu).

What I was doing at that time were several things:
    1. Both me and AI were had an astraeus and were attempting to leave orbit (but I don't think that was the issue since in the games before both me and the AI were able to leave and land units on other planets).
    2. I had just ordered my avengers to shoot down the enemy commander on an astraeus. I suspect this might be the cause
    3. I had a lot of stuff building; from tanks to t2 factories to t1 air, so I can't be any more specific on that.
    4. The system did use elliptical orbits, but I doubt that's the problem.

Does anyone else have any more specific input on this. It happens on regular basis for me and I suspect that the issue might lie somewhere in orbital, but I'm not sure. I'll do more specific testing later.

I've heard something about cancelling production at your orbital factory causing a crash?
    drz1 and zweistein000 like this.

I'm back now. I'll just put a system in into the system suggestion thread and then I'll try to repro this.

I haven't been able to repro it even now. It doesn't crash when you cancel production on orbital.

I believe if you cancel construction with "s" while the rocket is launching from your orbital fabber, the server will crash

This is still present in the current version. But this time I encountered it when I launched a nuke at a planet that was artificially moved into orbit.

I'm testing now if I can repro it. I'll also test the canceling while stuff in leaving orbital launcher.

I can confirm that canceling production in orbital launcher just as it is leaving orbital can cause a crash, but it's not entirely consistent. But the problem is that this is not the same issue. The issue with canceling orbital oricution results in an immediate crash and return to main menu. The issue I initially described results in a kind of server freeze, the game client side is still going, but everything is frozen in place. You can still look around, queue orders or return to main menu and type chat, but it doesn't show up and the units themselves are frozen in place.

And again I was not able to reproduce the issue I am experiencing. It's definitely something to do with orbits and orbital units.

Can't reproduce it in 62519. When I stop launcher rocket with unit disappear, but server won't crash. :(

UPD: Build 10 launchers and finally able to reproduce it: PA#3222

I tried it just now too and I did manage to reproduce it. It took some doing though. The first eight times, I cancelled immediately while the rocket was just lifting off and it did indeed disappear, but no server crash. However, when I left the rocket fly for a bit and I cancelled as it was just about to enter orbit, the server did crash. I mean the moment the orbital unit separates from the rocket itself. I managed to reproduce it twice in a row now.

Yeah I reproduced it exactly this way.

PS: Now trying to reproduce problem that OP explains.

Good luck with that. It is connected to sending stuff from one planet to another, even nukes, but I have not been able to reproduce it. It does however happen every 2-3 games so it's present enough that it's annoying.

    Unfortunately I wasn't too lucky. :(

Though I'll try again when I'll have more free time.
