I picked this game up the other day, at a friend's request, and I have been having some issues getting into the game.

I can get into the main menu easy enough, when I go to create a game, my user name and the empty spot flicker and I can not change them for a few minutes and then when I get that going and launch the game the splash screen show up with the loading icon spinning for about a min then I get a message saying that Micrsoft Visual C++ Runtime error, saying that the program is being asked to terminate. And then I get a message that PA.exe has crashed right after this (this is all from memory and only seeing it briefly).

I am running on a 32 bit system, on steam
    So far I have:
updated and re-updated my drivers, and my C++
Verified my local content through steam
    Deleted local content and re-downloaded
tried running with the firewall off
monitored my RAM while running (PA.exe peeked at 1.1 million K RAM during the Generating Planets screen)
ended all non-essential processed in the task manager
And yes I did try turning it off and on again, and it is plugged in

I was able to briefly get into a game but it did not last long, and I have been able to get past the screen a few times but when I did there were no planets

Same problem here. I tried to use the system manager and when I create planets the "PA has stopped working" dialog box appears. It also takes FOREVER to load, much longer than normal.

    6GB RAM
    Intel i7-360 Quad core 2.30GHz
750 Gigabyte HD (Terrabyte ext. HD)
    Intel(R) HD 4000
    64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium

As far as I know, I think all my drivers are up-to-date. All advice welcome

I can now get into a game thought it crashes on anything other then a very simple system still. I attached the DxDiag file in case it would be helpful.

    Thank you for the help

    You're seriously need 64-bit OS:
    Code:
    Memory: 8192MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 3560MB RAM
You have pretty powerful hardware, but you can't even use half of RAM you have due to 32-bit OS limitations.

yeah makes me sad, I was given this copy of the windows OS by a friend that had some extra keys he had bought. If I want to go to the 64 bit OS do i just buy a copy of the 64 bit OS or do I have to change out computer hardware? My friend that basically forced me to get PA said he was having some issues till he got the 64 bit OS as well.

NVM I am feeling derpy today, college exams and little sleep make it hard to brain. I am figuring out how to make the change and if it is worth doing right now.

I had a 64bit on my last comp but only 2 gigs or RAM and it was just an alraound pain so I figured I would just skip it this time. Love being wrong

As long as I know you don't have to buy new Windows license to get 64-bit. You can use same license key for both 64-bit and 32-bit version. You can ask Microsoft support about that just to be sure.

Mostly every CPU since 2006 support 64-bit and you have damn good hardware so nothing else required there.
