Oddly enough I never saw this in FA. People always destroyed lone extractors and built their own rather than capturing.

I've never seen capturing work in a game, other than the Sins Advent faction.

It's more the philosophy. It's the idea that you would defeat an opponent by completely assimilating everything into your empire.

I've always wondered, why oh why do people destroy/reclaim an extractor rather than capture it. Do they object to Cybran/Aeon/UEF/*insert opposing faction here* design philosophy?

I always do in in supcom games.

Well unless a passing army destroyed it.

But it's possible that you would only destroy them in raiding, and forget to expand later on.

Last time I checked you could walk though your enemy's teleporter if it was on, but I do think that capturing an enemy's teleporter that would give you access to their teleporter network would be awesome.

It would be interesting to see combat fabbers try to auto-capture any units in range. I've had situations where I've taken over moons that have a ton of enemy mexes built up and capturing would be more ideal than destroying and then rebuilding.

For hilarity someone could mod in that woo-loo-loo sound effect from the priests in age of empires :D

It is the holy trinity of resources gained by the reclaiming, satisfaction gained by the destruction and the higher speed over capturing. For me at least, obviously.
That, plus aesthetics. Ain't nobody got time for putting up with that mix'n'match stuff.

Every time the terrain is deformed with a new brush the server has to recalculate pathing stuff, which is not trivial. This is why nukes don't leave craters - if 8 nukes got launched and all 8 hit, the server would freeze until it recalculated all the pathing stuff 8 times.

I wish the performance were in a place where dynamic terrain deformation were more feasible, but it's currently not.

Might be a bit OP if orbital Fabs could capture other orbital and ground units...

    Replace priests with combat fabbers.
