Possible Capture Feature?

    Digging through the game files. In the folder with all of the icon cursors, there's one titled "icon_command_capture"

    Now. We all know that everything in the game files is subject for removal.

    But this seems to indicate that it's likely we'll be able to capture enemy units in the future.

    That's pretty nifty.

    I suspect this will be for fabbers/combat fabbers.

    There is lots of "interesting" stuff in the game files. Some has been removed, some gets added sometimes.
    I would not read too much into it.

    Might be a bit OP if I could capture enemies walls......

    I still think walls shouldn't be a structure and become a destructible part of the terrain but thats another thread...

    Good luck capturing walls since most of the time there's turrets right behind them.

    That icon has been in the game files from the very first alpha build (build 49073).
    So as @Cola_Colin says; don't read into it ;)

    Not a fan of capture. Can cause balance issues and seem silly when there's only one set of units. Plus it means more blowing stuff up.

    I like the idea, especially for capturing enemy mexes.
    But at the same time, I don't know if I'd like it to be implemented.
    It's one of those iffy things I have with RTS's, on one hand it sounds really fun and devious, but on the other hand it can potentially create some balance issues.

    All the other games, (TA, sup com, etc), had a capture command.

    It was not op because it took some time to complete the hacking and reprogramming (capture) of the unit.

    I don't see the value in capture as everything in the game is buildable by everyone and almost every single unit can die pretty fast anyways. I should think the capture function is for the whole metal planet death star thingy. Heck it could even be to capture a teleport which would be very interesting

    You capture enemy factroy's and resource buildings so you don't have to spend money on building them yourself.

    That's pretty significant in and of itself - you roll into a base in an FFA, capture *everything*. Free buildings, no need to destroy and rebuild.
